A man from Kentucky decided to clear his driveway using a flamethrower Dressed only in a hat and bathrobe the man casually walked down the drive Passing drivers honked their horns as they drove by the bizarre sight Plenty of people on social media praised the ingenuity of the idea with many wishing they had in fact received flamethrowers for Christmas

I actually tried this up in Michigan a while back with a propane torch. Doesn’t work very good. Takes forever and really only heats up the top of the ice which continually refreezes. Might work for a very thin layer of ice but it’s pretty much a waste of time.
Driving from Portland to Seattle on the 24th I stopped for gas in Longview, WA. I saw something in the yard across the street from the gas station and had to stare at it before I realized - it was a mannequin in a bathrobe with a hose and the remains of the trashed saucer. LOL After all these years i still love that movie.
Yes it’s funny but surprisingly, it doesn’t work very well.
I tried it with a roofing touchdown torch. It was really slow. And all the water freezes again. Maybe Kentucky snow is different from Colorado snow.
That’s what I said.
But they are not called flamethrowers.
They are Heavy Duty Weed Burners.
Very obviously a staged re-creation of "Cousin Eddie" from that film with the full intention of having it go viral.
Still funny to see. I wonder why my children never got me a "Cousin Eddie" hat like the one below. With a cigar, I could do a pretty decent impersonation myself.
Apparently the UK writer didnt notice that this was a take off of Cousin Eddie....Them reporters are so bright....
That wouldn’t working here where we have Real Snowfall
Maybe he should have escalated. A little powdered magnesium spread on top of the snow might have been more thorough. Or, you know, napalm...
[”Hey Clark, shitter’s full...” ]
Here in the desert where seasonal bugs are plentiful, I’ve seen a guy out on his patio using a propane powered torch to burn the accumulated bugs away. It’s environmentally friendly! :)
The temperatures are probably warmer in Kentucky vs. Colorado. That would be my guess.
Only in the UK or some other foreign land would they find this worthy of reporting on. 🙄
That man shows more talent and innovation in a one minute video than Congre$$ shows in a week....until it comes to asking for donations for 2022.
Created a hill of ice and it took 3 days with pick axes to make things right.
LOL...lesson learned!!
If I had brains, I would have bought some rock salt.
A #50 sack of Potasium Chloride from your neighbor hood oilfield supply store would boil off that ice from the driveway.
Better to place solar panels on top of the driveway -— melt snow naturally.
