ever been to Matt Umanov’s?
Never heard of it.
I've had my Historic for a decade but for some reason I was really jonesing for a simple Studio. I used to have one when I was a teenager back in the 80s.
So, on impulse, I pulled the trigger for one of those "husks" that STRATOsphere sells on eBay and Reverb where it's just the neck and body, no hardware or electronics. $699. Not a bad deal!
It arrived a couple of weeks ago, Smokehouse Sunburst. Beautiful instrument. I put some '61 Burstbuckers and Grover Rotomatics and it's a great little guitar! It's weight-relieved so it's nice and light. I appreciate this at my age. Very resonant as well.
Some people knock Studios because they don't have binding. I love mine! I could buy these "husks" from STRATOsphere all day long!
I buy from American Musical Supply
on Bleecker
Bought a beat up 6 string, In a second hand store. Didn’t know how to play it......
Nah. Doesn’t pay. The MTV ain’t like it was in the 80’’s.
And you can’t even play that song on the radio these days without the line about the short millionaire musician’s sexuality being censored out of the song due to political correctness.
Just not worth it these days :(

Well Johnny was a schoolboy
When he heard his first Beatles song
‘Love Me Do’ I think it was
From then it didn’t take him long
Got himself a guitar
Used to play every night
Now he’s in a rock ‘n’ roll outfit
And everything’s alright
Don’t you know? Don’t you know?
The difference between Fenders made is the US and Fenders made in Mexico?
Mexican Fenders are manufactured in Mexico by Mexicans.
USA Fenders are manufactured in California by Mexicans.
Put me (dayglored) on the list. PLEASE!!
Now I have to go back through your posting history and find all the old list pings.... :-)
Bain capital buys businesses and then puts then into bankruptcy......Vulture is a good word!!!!
And color tv’s don’t weigh as much these days.
And the free chicks will give you a disease.
The benefits are not there any more.
Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Keith Richards played Fenders.
Duane Allman and Tony Iomi played Gibsons.
There’s a long list for both brands.
But only the old ones are very expensive, though they are at the high end of production guitars.
I just bought a Line 6 240 from GC last week.
Guitar Center, the Walmart of music stores. They suck.
The one on the left is a Gibson Les Paul not a 335.
“In 2017 two of us offered to teach high school students guitar. No one was interested. They actually perceived the notion that they would ever want to as strange. They are LISTENERS and consumers, they don’t see a need for them to learn to play when you can download or stream everything.”
Spot on. Young kids today are lazy.Too much effort to learn to play. Why numerous HS across the country have 1/2 the band members they had 40 years ago.
Thanks for the correction. I was just going by memory with what looked like a friend and I used to jam with.
