We live in Northwest Phoenix, AZ. A lot of fireworks were set off on Halloween. We had not noticed fireworks being a part of Halloween during prior years.
We are now hearing fireworks, again, tonight.
First, is anyone else noticing fireworks in their neighborhoods?
Second, can anyone imagine what would occasion fireworks?
I am concerned that maybe we are being conditioned to hearing explosive sounds in time for the election.
What was the occasion? Why now? Inquiring minds want to know! :)
I didn’t hear any, but I am hibernating.
I said this during the obviously COORDINATED George Floyd riots, fireworks were set off at many of these all across the country.
We all need to pay attention to anything that is out of the ordinary.
If it’s a nothingburger, no harm, but if it’s not you are at least paying attention.
So found a few vintage beer cans in the woods, dented. Pop a cracker in it and it blows out the dent.
Heard some in NE Ga earlier today
YES .... THE DODGERS...THE LAKERS! Or something.
Had a few fireworks going off last night here in Florida....but since I’ve moved to the ‘burbs of Tampa 1.5 years ago, I’ve discovered the locals like to light them off because, well, because it’s just Tuesday, and that’s cause enough!
You have neighbors who are celebrating. We get that a lot where I live. Could be a birth or a wedding or a birthday. Maybe a new job starting or a retirement.
YES .... THE DODGERS...THE LAKERS! Or something.
Could also be a funeral. Fireworks at funerals are now a big thing for young people because they saw it in some movie or tv show. Send grandpa off with a bang.
In Colorado, you would get a visit from people in uniform because of the fire danger.
I have heard some fireworks out here in the RI woods, but hear much more shooting constantly from the ranges around me and the woods (hunting season)
We had a bunch last night 30 miles east of Seattle. None yet tonight but it is still early. We live in an area that does tons (lots of illegal ones too :)) on the 4th, and lots for New Year’s too.
I know for a fact ours was intentional harassment of the Trump supporters in our neighborhood. He’s 35 yrs old and an avid Obama fan. He’s been harassing all of us for six months now....right when he moved in.
Yes, in Michigan. I thought it was odd but then figured maybe it was for Halloween.
No but did buy some to set off Tuesday night when Trump is declared the victor.
Tangentially, on Saturday we drove to a small community about an hour outside of Anchorage - unbelievably, the only place you can get fireworks here - specifically to procure celebratory pyrotechnics to set off on Tuesday night. Itll be about 6pm Alaska time when the stunned journalists finally breakdown to call Florida and Pennsylvania for Trump. We live deep in the mountains on a lot of land so arent at risk of endangering anyone other than ourselves or a rapid police response before weve set off our entire supply. We do, however, have neighbors spanning either side of our valley and bought the loudest and most obnoxious options to make sure the liberal ones see, hear, and feel our joyous gloating. Given our four large Trump signs, the only ones in a 10 mile radius, itll be pretty clear who is making the noise. Given that the fireworks shanty village was all ready to go for Halloween sales yet I heard no Halloween fireworks, I wonder if others are up to what we are ;)
Anyone else preemptively buy election celebration goodies of the flammable or non-flammable variety? (We also picked up a fancy bottle of wine, which we figure well need either way.)
Maybe it’s an omen (for the metaphysically-minded).
We always have some old pans and spoons to bang on and make noise for celebrations.
LOL, the jig would up pretty soon.
