What really happened to all the U.S. coins ?
Was it the coin rapture ?
If all our good coins were taken in the blink of an eye, are the coins that got left behind evil ?
/-)
My opinion, expected inflation would make the material worth more than face value. I expect really cheap coins to follow.
as soon as the rumor went out that there was a coin “shortage”, everyone started hoarding coins, which resulted in a self-fulfilling rumor ... believe it or not, the same thing happened with cat liter early during the covid “shortages” of TP and paper towels ...
fundamentally, there are way too many greedy, selfish, anti-social people, and i’d bet dollars to donuts that the great majority of coin hoarders are leftist assholes ...
i for one have made a point of holding no more than my usual amount of coinage, namely about a dollar’s worth ... i didn’t hoard TP, paper towels or cat litter either ...

All part of the plan, which includes social monitoring and scoring. Covid 19 pandemic got a dry-run in October 2019 at Event 201:

What material could possibly be worth less than zinc? Aluminum?
Aluminum quarters, nickels, dimes.
Coin collecting has sucked since everything is now manufactured from zinc and ‘cladded’, basically 1964.
Well, gold certainly got its clock cleaned today. Down $93. Maybe the bad money is chasing out the good. Tempted to buy some gold.
I have all of them buried in my backyard! LOL.

Ironic, but I blame the Russians for views like this.
I don’t believe that they interfere specifically for one side in elections, but I do believe that they try like hell to sow social discord in this country.
I had a friend telling me like 6 years ago that Obama will not leave office and that they are going to find a way to get him a 3rd term, or he just isn’t going to leave. I’m like ‘Oh common dude! Where do you hear this stuff?’
People really need to manage their appetites for unrealistic dramatics.
No idea, but I assumed the company deposits them to their bank.
> She says there is NO coin shortage. Its just another scam. <
A scam by whom? The Walmart neat me seems to be genuinely out of coins. They are rounding cash purchases up to the nearest dollar, then donating the extra amount to charity.
You can object to that if you want. Then you get your change.
I cant believe that Walmart would bother to run a con. Some insider would blow the whistle. But who knows?
Are they silver?
A silver dime will get you $1.88 right now.
That roll of silver dimes you took to the bank for $5? It would be worth $94.00...
I am a strong advocate of using either non-government virtual currency, or hard assets. I still barely recall buying stuff with silver coins.
If you want to keep your government honest@ hard assets are the way to go. If you dont trust your government you need money that is trust less meaning it is based on its peer to peer valuenot the fiat promise of a government that is out of control.
I am a reader of the Bible. I understand The Revalations of Johnfrom several different articles. I am not buying into their literal translation or application to today. Nor am I getting into that on FR. Its a non winning discussion.
I honestly dont think the government has the sense to go non-currency.
Right. You don’t use coins when 90% of everything you buy is through Amazon or UberEats.
Have not counted/unrolled them yet, but these are recent coins. I think she was saving them for another Depression.
Yep
There is no way there is a coin shortage
People are ordering online like crazy and using their credit, debit, EBT cards out of fear for the germs on money
“I had a friend telling me like 6 years ago that Obama will not leave office...”
Your friend sounds like about 3/4ths of the posters on FR did back then.
My suspicions also. Going cashless saves corporations ( Home Depot, Publix, etc) huge costs. The small shops around here have no stated shortages, but all the big corporate ones are crying shortages. If you have not noticed, big corporations today are making all the “ rules”....really does not matter who and how, it is just another step towards cashless society ( as forecasted in the Bible).
Worth doing, even a few actual silver coins would make it worthwhile.
I hoard nickels. If I get one I wont spend it and I will use dimes and quarters in any permutation that will get me a nickel back in the change. Pennies dimes and quarters pile up and when I get a bunch I will put them in a self checkout at Walmart which accepts coins. I really hold up the line because it counts real slow.
The reason I hoard nickels is that they have the same metallic content today as when they were first made: copper and nickel.
