John Saxon, the rugged actor who kicked around with Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon and appeared in three Nightmare on Elm Street movies for director Wes Craven, died Saturday. He was 83.
Saxon died of pneumonia in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, his wife, Gloria, told The Hollywood Reporter.
An Italian-American from Brooklyn, Saxon played characters of various ethnicities during his long career.
His portrayal of a brutal Mexican bandit opposite Marlon Brando in The Appaloosa (1966) earned him a Golden Globe, and he had a recurring role on ABC's Dynasty as Rashid Ahmed, a powerful Middle East tycoon who romanced Alexis Colby (Joan Collins). And on another 1980s primetime soap, CBS' Falcon Crest, he played the father of Lorenzo Lamas' character.
Years earlier, Saxon starred from 1969-72 as the surgeon Theodore Stuart on "The New Doctors" rotating segment of the NBC drama series The Bold Ones.
Discovered by the same agent who launched the careers of Rock Hudson and Tab Hunter, Saxon first gained notice for his performance as a disturbed high school football star who taunts Esther Williams in The Unguarded Moment (1956). In the film's credits, he's billed as "the exciting new personality John Saxon."

Thanks for the link—never saw that before...
Papillion
I think you have him confused with Don Gordon, who used to appear a lot with Steve McQueen. RIP John Saxon.
He was hot in his younger years. RIP - we lost another good one today.
Rest in peace.
Former “teen idol” if you can imagine.
Yeah I recall it vaguely but I recall it being a fun movie. Thanks for the information I will check both of them out
He & his wife moved into an assisted living complex in Tennessee about 3 years ago.
That post-TOS Klingon in the photo progression is from the first Star Trek feature film. That’s Mark Lenard, adding a third alien character to his Trek resume’.
I also might be thinking of “Earth II” - though John Saxon was in so many things, it is hard for me to recall what I most remember him for I guess. He has things still to be released, so he kept working for 60+ years.
Loved him in Nightmare on Elm Street. A dad with a dark secret.
Aww...one of my favorite actors! So handsome and menacing!
I remember him in the Six Million Dollar Man. He was always great to see.
Right. It was the first incarnation of what we expect a Klingon to look like. Lenard got to play a Vulcan and a Romulan in TOS, then a Klingon in ST:TMP, and five times more as Sarek in ST:III, IV, VI, and two episodes of ST:TNG. I suppose if you’re going to be typecast, that’s not a bad run.
Sad to hear. Saxon was one of those faces that seemed to everywhere on tv in the late ‘60’s and ‘70s.
He looks like my dad.
Please do a little research before posting cr*p like that!
You are thinking of the original series episode "The Invisibles" (season 1, episode 19), which starred Don Gordon as a "GIA" deep-cover agent who had penetrated an organization controlled by furry little monstrosities.
John Saxon never appeared in any episode of "The Outer Limits" (not even of the for-the-most-part cruddy revival series).
Regards,
I think that you must be referring to the film "Papillon," in which the great, late, lamented Don Gordon had a role.
John Saxon didn't appear in that film.
Regards,
Sad news. He was a good actor, and being a martial arts man myself, Enter the Dragon was always one of my favorites.
RIP.
He was great in “The Unforgiven,” with Burt Lancaster and Audrey Hepburn.
First saw him in “Mitchell” on MST3K.
RIP.
