PARDON Roger Stone... Now Julian Assange?
FreeRepublic ^ | July 10 | RandFan

What are Freepers thoughts on Julian Assange? Barr's DOJ want him extradited to face espionage charges for allegedly publishing classified material.

It's likely he will face a rigged trial in DC (Maybe under Berman Jackson!) and won't have a hope in defending himself which he is entitled to. He could face the rest of his life behind bars under this arcane espionage law.

It does not sit right with me.

Thoughts?

Assange published leaked info.

Go after the leakers. The Deep State DOJ gives the vast majority of US citizen leakers a total pass. It’s a travesty.

I mean to say: Assange isn’t in America facing trial at this point. I suppose he can be pardoned when he comes here and is actually charged.

He WONT get fair trial in DC or Virginia.

I believe this is what concerns his lawyers and forms part of their case against extradition.

Drop charges on the condition that he becomes State Witness. Place him under protective custody at either Andrews AFB or Fort Belvoir. There will be Deep State types looking to have him offed.

He doesn’t seem to care much for the rule of law or for people getting a fair trial which their ENTITLED to.

Whatever you think of Assange he is entitled to a fair trial and not some rigged joke like Stone just had.

No one seems to be learning lessons. Hope Trump can set Barr straight!

Specialist Bradley was a major leaker, apparently.

Yes allegedly uploaded gigabytes of data. Wikileaks went through it and published ... No one was hurt or put in danger AFAIK.

Just googled and his full hearing is expected in September.

He is going to lose the case because the system is rigged. This could become an election issue because of the timing.

Some liberals are concerned ... some on the right are concerned.

I’m going to follow it a bit more closely.

Actually, Assange was alleged to have provided assistance to Chelsea (Bradley) Manning to crack the administrative password to the classified system. This plan was set up to provide anonymity to Manning since he could remove the classified material under another administrators credentials and would be harder to track. This was from Manning’s own deposition at his indictment. If this is true Assange was guilty of a serious crime and should be prosecuted. The material that was leaked exposed several agents to exposure and some were killed.

The main issue with Assange deals with the Clinton emails detailing with the 2016 campaign. This emails that came out right before the election sealed the deal for President Trump in the Democrats eyes. He would never get a fair trial today. Those emails came from Seth Rich on a thumb drive. At some point Assange will come back to the U.S. and lay he whammy to the Deep State in a military tribunal.

Third-world countries are technologically backward. Those countries that are not and have either an open or secret unelected tyranny wielding power against perceived enemies used to go by the term “second world”, a term seemingly forgotten after the Cold War but perhaps should be revived.

The high-profile WikiLeaks founder is wanted in the US to face 17 charges under the Espionage Act and conspiracy to commit computer intrusion after the publication of hundreds of thousands of classified documents in 2010 and 2011.

They dont want him for the emails ... they want him for the Iraq stuff Manning allegedly uploaded.

On that he needs to go to court and it needs to be in a court of law. Just because he did something that makes us happy doesn’t mean we ignore the other things. He needs to be tried.

People make him out to be some US Patriot when he’s the furthest from. I’m glad about what he did regarding Hillary. If he gets cleared on the other charges than great

But he needs to be tried

How is Eddie Snowden doing?

His US Army source was pardoned by Obama (after Obama paid for his operation).

I would have said Assange should also face trial, but after 8 years it seems its time to make a deal, if he will deal.

Give us something we can use, and then go live your life.

He can’t get fair a trial in DC or Virginia that is the problem.

The jury pool are all politically connected and then you have partisan judges like Berman Jackson.

I believe this is going to form part of his case against extradition and I think it’s compelling as they can use Stone as a case study!

WikiLeaks released the Collateral Murder Video of US servicemen Manning two Apache Helicopters, “enjoying” killing Reuters journalists, and civilians, including a child, IIRC.

I knew someone who had similar murder videos they took in VN. Seemed like some big circle jerk.
