PARDON Roger Stone... Now Julian Assange?
FreeRepublic ^ | July 10 | RandFan

What are Freepers thoughts on Julian Assange? Barr's DOJ want him extradited to face espionage charges for allegedly publishing classified material.

It's likely he will face a rigged trial in DC (Maybe under Berman Jackson!) and won't have a hope in defending himself which he is entitled to. He could face the rest of his life behind bars under this arcane espionage law.

It does not sit right with me.

Thoughts?

It was a sentence commutation, not a Pardon.

Assange hasn’t been convicted.

He would seem to be in need of some mental health therapy though.

Julian Assange is in a European prison. Isn’t he?

So your saying he has to go through the system first ... which can take a long time and be mentally distressing.

There is no hope he will get a fair trial a bit like Roger Stone...

The Deep State needs to be dismantled, permanently. If Assange can help with that, I’d not only pardon him or commute his sentence etc. (if convicted), I would also set him up with a new identity (if he wished), money, and a very nice life.

Calling him a traitor is a tool being used by the Deep State to prevent him from having moral legitimacy.

Better to first attack the DOJ for continued partisan idiocracy, even under Bagpipe Barr.

Yes. He is in a high security prison awaiting extradition. I believe his hearing is due soon. He was refused bail after he left the Ecuador embassy in London.

Assane is being persecuted. Is is not a US citizen, never came to America or committed a crime in America. Publishing data is not the problem, find the leakers, they are the problem. Let Assange go.

Assange leaked classified data that was damaging to the United States military. He leaked sensitive sources and techniques that damaged our own intelligence gathering capabilities and directly resulted in some of our sources being killed. The loss of intel likely resulted in other failures, and indirectly, the loss of US personnel. He leaked information damaging both our military and diplomacy.

Are you OK with all that? He leaked damaging info on Hillary, so we forgive everything else? Pardon? Seriously? I would rather see him executed, but might settle for life in prison in consideration for his damage to Hillary. But PARDON? Hell no.

The problem is a lot of high level generals are p*ssed at what he was publishing. i cannot for the life me see Trump or Biden pardoning him or commuting his sentence.

He will face a rigged trial then be sentenced for up to 30 years.

Maybe a public outcry and attention of a perceived injustice would help get him out of prison but I don’t see it.

Assange isn’t in America, can Trump even pardon him? I support doing whatever is possible to help the guy out though.

Offer him a pardon in exchange for proof the source of the Podesta emails.

He can pardon someone of a federal crime. They don’t have to be citizens.

From what I’ve read about the case they have never been able to prove that sources were compromised or placed in danger.

I could be wrong as i’m not up to speed on it entirely .
