And perhaps a teenager calling for a Black Lives Matter rally in a predominantly white, affluent suburb normally might have been ignored or elicited a few eye rolls from those who see big cities as the epicenters of change. But what happened next is evidence that Chagrin Falls -- and towns like it across America – need to hear the message of the Black Lives Matter movement the most.
As soon as word of Chase’s rally spread, a kind of hysteria descended upon Chagrin Falls. Merchants, aware of demonstrations last Saturday, 25 miles away in downtown Cleveland and elsewhere that had devolved into violent riots, began boarding up their storefronts.
Meanwhile, Chase started receiving threats. One thread on a community Facebook page became so filled with hateful messages directed at Chase and his protest that the page administrator removed the post altogether, Chase said. People called the phone number he had posted on the flyer, demanding that he cancel the rally or face backlash. Some threatened violence. One caller left a message that said protesters who dared to show up would be met by an AR-15 rifle. Chase turned the messages over to police.
But the business community remained on high alert and continued to prepare, apparently for a marauding band of looters to hit Chagrin Falls. By Tuesday morning, about 80 percent of the town’s business district was shuttered by plywood. Some business owners accepted the help of a man cruising up and down Main Street, offering to board up their buildings for $300 a pop.
I spoke with some business owners Tuesday to try to understand the hysteria that stood in the way of Chase’s attempt to stage a peaceful demonstration. As I’ve said in previous columns, white America’s dangerous, racist and irrational fears underlie the problem of police violence against black citizens. So arguably the most powerful setting for a Black Lives Matter protest would be the home of white America. Places like Chagrin Falls.
I live near, and shop in, a town of about 35k. It is only 20 miles from Denver, Colorado. (all urban out to the town) I have a suspicion that the thugs are going to try something this weekend. Found at least 100 black lies matter signs, with names of africans killed by the police, lining a pedestrian bridge in the local park. A small sit down demonstration in front of the library yesterday nearby. And 4 suspicious young kids near a statue of a pioneer that they were inspecting. Two had new motorcycle boots and motorcycle jackets.
An hysterical 15 year old, having been fed a diet of “hate america” at his public school decides to organize a protest against the imaginary targeting of Black Americans for police abuse.
When he gets threats, who does he turn to?
Why, the local police, that’s who.
So, he’s really not that worried about the police, it would seem.

Question: Haven’t been to Cleveland for a while. Is Chagrin Falls really 25 miles away?
A number of local shopping malls have closed here in anticipation of announced demonstrations.
I don’t have to capture the flag.
On the other hand, they will have to pry it from

25 miles seems about right.
Theirs is a reasonable, rational, logical reaction to the previous occurrences. What part of “ wrong” does the author not understand?
White people coexisting peacefully and productively is such a terrible thing. While blacks and white leftist losers looting storefronts while defying curfew is justified. /s

Similar protest/riot rumored for Boiling Springs, SC. tomorrow. The threat consists of a facebook/twitter war of words between the BLM/Antifa types and the local good old boys. Whether the threat is real or not, the bad guys have already been successful in creating anxiety in this suburb of Spartanburg.
FYI Chagrin Falls is the home town of Tim Conway.
We had one earlier today in Olmsted Falls, Ohio.
Laughable and sad to say the least. Only 7 teenage girls showed up.
They all lay face down in front of the police station. SMH
I’m content... very content to just say I’m a Racist... and then when People ask me why, I just offer up todays news reports and walk away. It’s much easier this way! And, I filter out those quickly, the kind who like to play both sides of the fence depending on whos in the room... ya gotta draw a line somewhere. if not well ya aint know better then the rest of em!!

My US Government teacher used that to explain gerrymandering to us.
Nationwide, put it on the Public Health Nazis who've kept things closed way past "flattening the curve" and "preparing the medical pipeline".
It just takes one useful idiot teenager to provide the opening for burning the 'burbs. This author is fueling the flames. Insurgents are in place, just waiting for an incident to gin up. And the police? The 90% who are good have to step up and not let the bad guys set the tone.
That's my take on it. I remember the summer of 1968 in Boston. I remember that the "solutions"....affirmative action and bussing have only made things worse. Now, what we have to fear is the solutions.
