Quarantines have been practiced throughout history. And as your post amply shows, it’s been both practiced and held constitutional throughout this nation’s history. All this nonsense about requiring masks, social distancing or enforcing quarantines being ‘unconstitutional’ is a recent invention of the last few weeks.
Wall Street and the big money interests are losing money with these anti-Wuhan plague measures, so they’ve ginned up talk radio and the right-wing blogosphere to push this new ‘constitutional right’ that they’ve pulled out of their butt.
Along with the billionaires, the chi-com trolls are riling up the crazies on both the left and right with conspiracies blaming everyone except for the true culprit— the chi-com dictatorship.

I saw an interview the other day where an epidemiologist basically said they ALWAYS estimate deaths at the high end, and that has always been accepted. No one ever cared that they estimated 100K and only 80K died. On the other hand if a disease kills far more than predicted, everyone blames them for miscalculating. That said, the 1M-2M numbers of "dread and doom" were without any mitigation. Were those numbers realistic? Maybe not. But without mitigation, our numbers might be 3 to 5 times what they are. With more sensible mitigation like Sweden, maybe only 50% to 100% higher.
And speaking of miscalculating, the IHME appears to have thrown out their old model. After lowering their prediction from 100K-220K down to 60K, then raising it by a couple thousand every few days as the model missed the mark, they now have a new model, and have approximately doubled the predicted deaths to 134K, with a range almost the same as the original 100K-220K.

Also, worldometer has added smoothing in the form of a 3-day moving average to their graphs, attenuating some of the wild day to day swings to better show trends.

Basically state governors have a lot of room in dealing with epidemics through their own orders, but there are also a lot of ways they and their underlings can exceed that emergency authority. Many governors are doing both, which makes things confusing. And makes flat statements like mine pretty silly.

I'm agreeing that Pelosi is intentionally blocking. But she can't block other branches from acting. Pompeo could give a fog what Pelosi wants.
As to corrupt, evil countries: that's the real world, dude. Going back to Noah. When people have no voice, when individuality, equality and altruism are foreign concepts, the guy with the biggest stick wins until someone comes along with a bigger stick. When people do have a voice, when they are allowed to ask questions, like in America, sooner or later shady dealings will come into the light of day. There will always be people who abuse their power. We can try to check them. But we'll never stop evil; there's only one person who can stop that and He's not ready to return to work yet.

Not many, simply by virtue of exponential mathematics. There was a mysterious surge in ILIs (pneumonia-flu-negative) prior to the investment of Wuhan, however. Those were possibly CCP-19 but until they go back and test those cases we can’t know.

Not sure what that has to do with foreign aid, but the average median age in Indonesia is 30yo. Only 6.2% of their population lives to see 65. In the USA, about 15% of our pop lives beyond 65.
As people age, the ability to synthesize Vit D becomes impaired. As the kidney ages it loses ability to 'activate' that Vit D. There'd be very little impairment in a healthy 30yo Indonesian. The ability to manufacture melatonin, which has anti-inflammatory properties, is also impaired with age. A 24yo equatorial Indonesian would have a higher melatonin level than a 50yo irish New Yorker in winter. Even so, Indonesia was one of the last to experience outbreaks, but it currently has the highest number of cases in Southeast Asia
Age, medications, environment, speed and method of care, knowledge database to draw upon, all or any could affect mortality to a much larger extent than Vit D levels alone. You'd have to compare similar populations instead of apples and oranges.

Judging from the news and the posters on FR, it seems a large number of the anti-mask crazies are from south of the Mason-Dixon line. If you think of it, it’s kind of funny and ironic considering post Civil War and Reconstruction history and all...
