Some likely scenarios:
►Increased willingness to trade freedoms for promises of security. At tax payer expense, what is left of them.
►Censorship of speech by private media against those who oppose the above, and the demonizing of such the MSM.
►Persecution and prosecution by the government against protesters of compelled COVID-19 restrictions. ►Prolonged food shortages.
►Increasing reliance upon government. ►Vast increase of a welfare class.
►A form of Universal Basic Income being promised and incrementally provided.
►Universal health care.
►Vast increase of the national debt.
►Substantial increase in taxes upon businesses and tax payers.
►Income disparity reduced as all become poorer and dependent upon the government, except for those in government.
►Increased trading of freedoms for promised security. ►Increased surveillance and tracking of people.
►Permanent restrictions on, and control of, movement and association and speech.
►Required government registration in order to purchase goods and for travel, and to be part of large public meetings.
►Increased restrictions on those marked as non-conformists, esp. those who oppose expresses disapproval of LGBTQ propaganda.
►Churches whose beliefs conflict with state-imposed speech and its restrictions padlocked or converted to state use.
►Increased use of robots, including for teaching children.
►Military conflicts with China.
►China flexing muscles and forcing a bruised and weakened US military to redrawn form contested waters.
►The MSM acting as evangelists for the above.
‘Imagine what would have happened if a Democrat had been President during this crisis’
There would have been no crisis, period. It would have been the same as Obama and the SARS pandemic. Media silence.
Given the exposure of China’s screw up along with the failure of COVID-19 medical supplies received by other countries, I expect a massive backlash against China.
I expect other countries to reclaim resources and infrastructure lost through loan defaults through judgements from lawsuits tried locally.
I expect Trump to move to recognized Taiwan as an independent nation.
Iran is no longer the financial source for terrorism. Expect both Hamas and Hezbollah to be much less active.
Trump will pull troops out of the Middle East and other countries as terrorism wanes.
A huge infrastructure bill will pass leading to a strong revival of construction.
Expect cuts to the military based in part on the recent Navy study.
But wait ... There’s more!
Hammer meets nail.
‘Imagine what would have happened if a Democrat had been President during this crisis’
There would have been no crisis, period. MSM would bury it like they did with Obama and H1N1.
oops double post sorry
Underground? Churches are now operating more publicly and out in the open than ever before.
What I have learned from it is that many on the right are just as capable of creating alternative realities and ignoring absolute fact as the Left is.
Right. They see how we cower and how so many believe it is so virtuous to do so.
What a weakness it is that has been revealed to the world.
Well not so much as example look at the new California virus regulations for Churches, no Bibles, no singing, must stand 6 ft apart, no offering plates, no baptisms, no welcoming new members...
Poor pathetic antifa finds itself unable to attack anyone from 6 feet away.
I think as areas open up and if the increase in positive tests/fatalities does not drastically increase (it will increase, the question, though, is how much) people will move on with life, economy will improve and as we get closer to election time this will become a distant memory in most poeple’s lives because people have to work to pay bills and eat...and once the momentum starts for opening, other states are not going to be able to hold off. Yes, the media will beat the COVID 19 disaster scenario drum, but it won’t matter once the momentum starts.
But with Democrats holding the purse strings for recovery funds, restricting the rebellious states from receiving much.
I think you’re taking for granted the amount of people “cowering”...in my area, other than restaurants being open only for take out and bars, hair cut/salons, and schools being closed, it’s been pretty much business as usual. Not a lot of people wearing masks and many people out and about, shopping, etc. Keeping social distancing, yes, but that’s about it.
Hmmm... looks serious....
I agree on most, with exception of Europe (well, most of Europe) backing away from China...
Actually that reaction provides a basis for more gov. control. Unless most of the US goes along with the liberty seekers, then the gov. will use dissent as a pretext for harsher measures against them.
Pretty consistent with what I much foresee.
Yes, we could not fight WW2 on its terms today. Character, besides industrial base loss.
With the media advertising any increase in infections.
Perhaps.
I hope you are right about the cowering not being so much.
I too was out yesterday here in the area just south of Seattle and things were pretty normal, the traffic stunk and all sorts of people out, maybe one out of 10 had a mask.
Its very upsetting to see so much business with doors closed.
In my previous statement it should be how much the virus has effected our economy and what the enemy observes in that.
I know one thing for sure, that made in China label really means something to me now.
I am swearing off made in China goods.
People want to do something virtuous? Dont buy Chinese!
America needs to make things again, bring back our own manufacturing.
