> a mask is to protect other people...not you...

That must be why many N95 masks have an exhaust valve.

Dang it! And I just got my Darth Vader mask!

I like the strange looks I get. I think I’ll keep wearing it until they finally say “stop it already”!

😈

I had some but donated 2 boxes to a hospital. I then made one from a bandana. ‘Twas easy. I have not been out in weeks. I did go to the drive thru at Walgreens to get some meds. Get my groceries delivered by Krogers. I will admit, I am ready to get out.

The virus is not airborne....I repeat, the VIRUS IS NOT AIRBORNE.

I wish people would stop posting claims of which they are so certain. Anyone who claims to know anything for certain is probably wrong about what they claim to know.

I agree, I am not wearing one unless possibly I was sick and had to go out for something...
I do get a good laugh at the people driving alone with masks on and also all the people jogging or walking outside wearing them.
I am in Phoenix and I would guess from recent grocery store visits that we are up to over 50/50 wearing them now, maybe 60/40 with a large percentage of mask wearers also wearing gloves.
I used to shop late night to avoid the crowds but now that they close early, I go in the mornings to be able to have best selection... I just can’t believe how many families go grocery shopping together... I understand a single parent taking their kids, but I see mom and dad and 3 or 4 kids all masked up.
As an interesting comparison, at Home Depot just a couple days ago, I think it was only about 10% of the people wearing masks and nobody with gloves on.

I have to agree it’s a total liberal thing

No I’m forced to wear a mask face covering when I go into a store and I found a bandanna on the street and washed it and I wear that and tell people “ hey I’m wearing this but I’m not here to rob you today actually”

Lol

No seriously I See people walking their dog out in the middle of the woods by them self wearing a mask and I’m like really?

And then there’s the hand sanitizer bull crap and all the other garbage

It looks Summers coming in this things going to end and what we will see is that a liberal states are gonna want to hang on to not only the shut down but all this bull crap the masks the hand sign a Tyser the government control over people’s lives and it’s gonna be funny to watch

Trump is playing this absolutely brilliantly by leaving it up to the states and taking the federalist approach

It’s going to highlight better than anything on the planet ever cared of the Republican versus the Democrat approach and governing

My wife's sisters made us masks. Wife gave it a go, but gave up on it - she has many talents, but sewing is not one of them.

I am thankful that they took the trouble to do this. We accepted their gift in the spirit it was given.

While I don't wear one to take a walk or anything like that, I do wear one when I go to the grocery, where I am likely to be in closer proximity to many strangers. My wife is recovering from strep that took quite a long time to get over. And, we're not spring chickens any longer.

I'm not one of those who are terrified to leave my home, but I also believe in exercising reasonable caution when the circumstances warrant.

I have absolutely no idea why it bothers you that I am being extra cautious about my wife's health, when it has no impact whatsoever on you. Wear a mask; don't wear a mask. That's up to you.

My wife has made over a hundred so far, for relatives, kids’ coworkers, the mailman, neighbors, etc.

Various styles, including Spiderman and Venom for kids.

A mask is to make sheep feel comfortable in their fear.
It may do that also, but it actually does reduce the risk of infection.

Business Insider ran an article about test performed on 20 different materials.

Shop Towels actually do an excellent job of filtering...

I have ordered a reusable silicone outermask and when the filters included with the mask are used up, I will be use several layers of shop towels or combo of shoptowels w/one of the other materials. The outermask is tightly fitted.

From the first article that triggered additional study:

Inserting two of these towels into an ordinary cotton mask brought filtration up to 93% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, the smallest their machine could test. Meanwhile, the cotton masks filtered 60% of particles at best in their tests, Schempf said.

Watch John Wayne’ s movie “Rooster and the lady” he’ll give you the how to. I read about it in Boys Life back in the fifty’s. Otherwise take a 45 colt to bed. Damn little bothers you then. Scared of viruses? I recommend zinc, vitamine C, elderberry wine. Again may not help but it couldn’t hurt. Besides the wine cut half and half with Perrier’s water is good. Mask up don’t hurt either. Talk plain and slow so people understand. Thing about a mask or a gun, you gotta have them on unti you forget them. Can’t always be tugging on it. Wear it and relax. When it’s second nature, you’re there.

N95 masks protect the wearer.
Surgical masks protect the patient/other people around you.

I have an embarrassing admission to make: I wore a mask while grocery shopping tonight. I wasn’t proud.

I want to make it clear that it wasn’t my idea. I was shopping with my elderly mother. She may be elderly, but she is very spirited, stubborn and, at times, unreasonable. She is also on the paranoid side, so she insisted on masks.

Here’s the kicker: She ordered the mask from a site affiliated with ALIBABA. You know, the Chinese version of Amazon?

The masks arrived today, Chinese instructions and all.

I felt like a hypochondriac walking into Walmart with my Chinese mask. I admit that, at 49 years old, I’m very old, but I don’t look my age. Wearing the mask made me feel old.

Not long after entering the store, my attention wasn’t on my appearance, but on learning to breathe in the mask. Several times I pulled the mask down a little to get some air. It was also aggravating how, every few minutes, I had to wipe my glasses because they were fogging up.

To my surprise, there were a number of shoppers wearing masks. I figured that we would be the only ones. None of the many Mexican shoppers were masked.

The Walmart employees were required to wear masks. I spoke to several of them and they weren’t thrilled with the rule.

Alright, everyone. Go ahead and laugh at me. I don’t mind.

BTW, I agree with your post. Except for the part about washing the groceries. I was so tired and hurting when we returned home, and I had two dogs and a cat to feed, there was no way that I would bother with that.

We also didn’t launder our clothes. I believe that is overkill.

I admit that I’m not afraid of this virus at all. I don’t give it a second thought and am taken aback by the paranoia.
