The coronavirus patients began arriving the last week of March, transferred to the Gurwin Jewish Nursing and Rehabilitation Center under a New York state mandate requiring nursing homes to accept those recovering from COVID-19, even if they still might be contagious.
At the time, the Long Island nursing home had only one known resident who had contracted the virus, according to the facilitys president and CEO, Stuart Almer.
A month later, Gurwin is battling an outbreak thats killed 24 residents - only three of whom were hospital transfers - and one staff member, who worked in housekeeping, Almer said. And the nursing home is still mandated to take in recovering hospital patients known to have the virus, potentially increasing its spread in the facility.

They dont have a right to object. That is the rule and that is the regulation, and they have to comply with that, Cuomo, a Democrat, said in a Thursday news conference. If they cant do it, well put them in a facility that can do it.

On March 25, New York became the first state to issue a blanket rule prohibiting nursing homes from denying admission or readmission to residents because they are infected with COVID-19, and banned the facilities from testing patients for the disease before they are admitted. (The state had already required all facilities to isolate COVID-positive patients and prohibited staff from moving between treating those who are infected and those who are not.)

I believe this occurred at several facilities. Cuomo has blood on his hands.
According to ingraham, 3,5000 elderly died.
All rehab units here (E. Tenn,) that I am aware of require COVID-19 testing, prior to acceptance. Only one nursing home in Knoxville area has cases
It seems the State leaders are going after the elderly. By infecting nursing homes filled with elderly they are committing genocide. And it’s being done right in front of our eyes
Like all Dems, he's a good social engineer. Those old people use up a lot of money that could be used to buy votes (like with reparations to minorities and free benefits to illegal aliens).
Why is the state dictating to to the medical profession? Why aren’t doctors deciding how things will be done?

Caseloads of most doctors are filled with elderly, I would think.
The bumbling dem governors have been cruising along with the glory and praise of the left wing media. All the while the media fixates on Trumps slow reaction and Lysol injections.
What a dilemma for the media! What story do they bury first. The fact the social distancing doesnt appear to have worked, Biden has a #MeTo problem, or that Cuomo has blood on his hands and Murphy and Whitmer are in full totalitarian mode?
Seems Cuomo is up first on the MSM covering something so that they can spin it.
Wow! ....Who made this decision? The head of the Department of Motor Vehicles?
Welcome to government run medicine.
“It seems the State leaders are going after the elderly. By infecting nursing homes filled with elderly they are committing genocide.”
No doubt about it. The Democrats look upon the elderly and the infirm as useless eaters, the resources for which would be better directed towards younger, more compliant Democrat voters.
The Democrats not only support but cheer the elimination of the most innocent and helpless in society, from tiny babies to arthritic grandmothers. And, they’ll be coming for the Down Syndrome innocents next, just as their National Socialist kinsmen did eighty years ago.
Old people tend to be conservative. Check. Old people cost alot of state money to care for. Check. The care act monetized Covid deaths. Check. For the Dems it’s a triple win to spread Covid into nursing homes...
How much money is New York saving on pensions?
... Why arent doctors deciding how things will be done?
Medicaid pays for much of NH care, he who pays the piper...
11 patients died in the nursing home a few blocks from my house and they probably only have 80-100 beds in that small facility

...Medicaid, through its state affiliates, is the largest single payer for nursing home care. While estimates vary, it is safe to say that Medicaid pays between 45% and 65% of the total nursing home costs in the United States.

Yes. I hope there is a full investigation of this decision because this seems to be the exact opposite of the stated intent of the lockdown and measures imposed to protect others including those most vulnerable from contracting this virus.
What was the rational for this? Who made the decision? Why are homes saying they were “forced” to take the patients back even though they were not set up for isolation?
This makes no sense to me at all. Then again, putting infectious prisoners back out on the street makes no sense either.
