Coronavirus spreads on French aircraft carrier, hundreds infected
PARIS (Reuters) - Nearly 700 sailors assigned to the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle’s naval group have tested positive for the coronavirus, the armed forces ministry said on Wednesday.
The ministry said 1,767 mariners, nearly all from the Charles de Gaulle itself, had been tested and results showed at least 668 to be infected with the new coronavirus. Results are still not in from a third of the tests.
“Thirty one personnel are today in hospital,” it said in a statement. “More tests are being carried out.
..As of Wednesday, the Navy said 615 sailors from the Roosevelt have tested positive for the virus, and 4,046 have been moved ashore in Guam.
One sailor from the ship died Monday. *****A second was admitted to an intensive care unit Tuesday for “increased observation due to shortness of breath” and remains there Wednesday.*****
Four other sailors from the Roosevelt are also being treated at the U.S. Naval Hospital Guam, but are not in intensive care.
I agree, but somehow we have to restructure things so family care of parents is not such a killer, financially.
I had a long rant written, but, the long and short of it is that a nursing home, despite it’s high cost, is usually the better-by-far financial option for most families. In family P’s care has wrecked us (my family) if one looks at the overall picture. It was the right thing to do, but VERY painful. We kept Mom happy, safe, in the family, and comfortable, but given recent developments (fallout of COVID-19) I will have to work like hell in my (soon to be) late 60’s to not die in poverty. I don’t know if I have it in me.
That fire bombing was bloody aweful. That and being the only country on the planet to nuke two cities is our legacy. Such are the hazards of war. Best to avoid if you can. Now if the Germans had won probably every major US city would have been nuked. We know however who the winner will be on this planet. It was foretold thousands of years ago. Even WW2 was foretold. The Germans tried to exterminate gods people. The righteous allies stopped them. One should not even wonder what side God was on then. He foretold the winner too.
The FBs seem rather nonchalant with the deaths of elderly, or month long hospitalizations of the middle age American business owner and Trump voter... will they at least care that our military is affected this way?
I come to this thread and still get good information. I feel like I am down in the well stocked bunker with a bunch of like minded survivors.

A FReeper posted that their mail carrier wife has seen 0 cases, in her area. I realize this is different than, say, NYC, but....I’m keeping a sharp eye on some of these claims.

Vitamin D is essential.
It’s all over the map with vitamin D3. So I err on the side of a caution..just like with elderberry. I will take it until I get sick..then I will quit.
Except if it is winter I will probably take a low dose of Vitamin D but not hammer it.

Depends on the study you look at. Vitamin D has shown to be an issue in cytokine storms.
Since I witnessed what a cytokine storm does and how fast it kills you..I err on the side of caution
