The Panic Is Worse Than The Disease
My Opinion | April 3, 2020 | Me

Posted on 04/03/2020 12:20:03 PM PDT by captain_dave

I am very concerned that the panic is already worse than the disease, and that we are now only hurting ourselves by continuing this exercise in mass hysteria.

A solution to the Wuhan Flu (aka: Corvid19) is available. We can use the hydroxychloroquine protocol (HCQ). A vaccine is beginning to be tested in Israel. And now the University of Pittsburgh has a potential solution: HotAir story, "We might already have a vaccine -- and a safer delivery method, too" (Link: https://hotair.com/archives/ed-morrissey/2020/04/03/university-pittsburgh-might-already-vaccine-safer-delivery-method/)

I believe President Trump's initial response was correct. China's reaction to the outbreak with its quarantine of Hebei Province could have indicated a release of a biological agent. However, now we are seeing the Wuhan Flu for what it is: a serious seasonal flu.

The problem we have now is the world is in panic. Irrational decisions are being made in the name of safety, which are causing hardship. The supply chains are being broken. Now, the spector of hunger is starting to visit. This is very dangerous. I don't doubt there are some who rejoice in our panicked self destruction. We're making it easier for them to seize control.

What is needed now is to treat Wuhan Flu cases with HCQ and get our wounded economy back to work before empty wallets and empty shelves result in hunger and riots. We are at a critical decision moment: do we return to America or do we become Venezuela?

Be careful what you say...you will be labeled a heretic and called all kinds of names. Because you voice common sense others here will call you stupid or special or ask for your credentials to espouse such nonsense.

I agree with you. I also want to know if all these rules for wearing masks and staying inside are within the constitutional limits that governors can do. Lacking a declaration of martial law no matter what ordinance they put into effect telling people they can’t leave their homes is, in my opinion the worst thing we could do. Everyone identifies with their work or school or social circle. The government has broken that Identity and therefore broken society. Enough already.

Young healthy people should mask up and wear gloves and get back to work! We need the economy turning. The stats say this is an elder issue with underling medical issues. I know the young are testing positive, but the fallout is getting worse than the virus.

Speaking for my state of California, we have an infection rate of 259 per million population. If that doesn’t scare the hell out if you, I don’t know what will.

Well the panic certainly does not help in combating the disease, that is for sure. But the disease is a fast spreader, and while the morbidity rate is overstated beyond the shadow of a doubt, it is still a killer.

We will know more within the next 2 weeks about this virus. One thing we can't afford is for this virus to become so widespread as to overwhelm the healthcare system. For if that were to happen we would lose more lives to other diseases, and accidents, in addition. A snowball effect would create very real devastating results. Then panic would grip even more of the population unleashing the worst in humanity.

While there are certainly politicians taking full advantage of this virus, all Democrats I might add, this is not a game. This is the challenge this generation must face. So far we have been extremely inept in my opinion. We are no longer a nation that can unite to fight a common enemy. We moan & groan about everything. We are quick to point fingers here and there, blaming others, instead of uniting to fight this virus. Very disappointing I must say.

The official turning point was when all these sports leagues began canceling major events. THAT is what triggered the public hysteria and panic over this.

Spot on correct.

When the NBA and NCAA Big Dance were cancelled that scared a lot of folks because we don't shut down sports in this country for hardly anything.

I don’t know what Trump said in the matter but if he said 4 more weeks then that makes him an utter asshole. Frankly at this point I don’t really care. The damage is done this silly stupid nation has gone round the bend.

It’s vital that every American follows our guidelines on the “30 Days to Slow the Spread.” The sacrifices we make over the next four weeks will have countless American lives saved. We’re going to save a lot of American lives. And we’re in control of our own fate very much so. Maintaining social distance, practicing vigorous hygiene, and staying at home are your most effective ways to win the war and to escape danger...

He’s just suggesting. It’s not law.

I dunno. I’ve been in so much i’m not really sure what day it is anymore :)

This virus has been here for MONTHS, probably started here in the US in late December..people walked around with it and no one knew, no one made a fuss..meanwhile when the swine flu killed over 19,000 Americans, no one knew, no one cared, the economy did NOT get shut down, because they all wanted to protect Obama who did NOTHING for months before declaring a national emergency

If symptoms are present you should be able to go to a drive-up testing site for the Wuhan Virus quick test. If confirmed positive your sent home with Hydroxychloroquine, Azithromycin and Zinc Sulfate. A medical professional would then check on you daily.

Serious, where's the bottleneck on getting this done?
