Is this the lady that used to post recipes on lowcarbfriends?
I miss that site ;(
OK, who gave the Demonrats the red pills? (Colorado) Polis just bet on individuals over harsher crackdown. “On Friday, Colorado Public Radios Ben Markus asked, Why Isnt Colorado Sheltering In Place Like Other States? During Sundays conference, several journalists seemed shocked that Polis did not issue such an order. Meanwhile, Colorados journalists have worried how to keep themselves in the essential services category and therefore exempt from any statewide crackdown. (Obviously I agree journalists need the freedom to keep working during this critical time.)
Rather than impose an extreme statewide crackdown, Polis instead did something remarkable, something that politicians often have trouble doing. He chose, at least to a substantial degree, to trust individuals to rise to the challenge, do the right thing, and do their part to keep Coloradans safe. Polis chose to lead with moral authority rather than the point of a government gun. And now it is up to us. It is up to you, me, and every other person in Colorado to act responsibly during the coronacrisis.”

Coumo just called New York the “canary in the coal mine.”
He said what happens there will happen in California, Illinois, and everywhere.
Spend some time educating yourself by reading and watching videos on youtube about what you plan to grow. There is a wealth of knowledge now available. Growing vegetables is one of those things that looks deceptively easy. But for good success, real knowledge goes a long way to ensure success.
My above experiments where in an effort to solve the issue of growing food after a nuclear attack. When our soil becomes contaminated, a what do we do now scenario.
16 states under ‘stay at home’ guidelines, NC hospitals ask governor for shelter in place order (NC governor is Demonrat but has so far held off from shelter in place) - https://www.wral.com/coronavirus/16-states-under-stay-at-home-guidelines-nc-hospitals-ask-governor-for-shelter-in-place-order/19025710/
One point I agree with is this: All we have to go by is what the current numbers tell us.
You then say "Those numbers on the face of it show recoveries outnumbering deaths by a factor of 6 to 1. while that is promising, it is also concerning because the recovery rate is only about a third of the total infected."
Worldwide, that's true. But there's a lot of variation from place to place. Here in the U.S. so far, it's more like 2:1 deaths:recoveries. I don't expect that number to hold, but like I said earlier, even if we assume that there are really 20 times as many recoveries as have been reported, the CFR in the U.S. would still be quite alarming. Instead of being the current astronomical rate of 588/(588+295) = 66.6% (based on current numbers), it would be a "mere" 588/(588+5900) = 9%. I don't find that number very comforting.
Yes. It’s Linda’s site.
NY Times Finally Gets Around to Blaming McConnell for Democrats’ Blocking Coronavirus Relief Package - “After spending an hour or two on Sunday flirting with responsible journalism, The New York Times quickly reverted to dutiful form as the slathering lapdogs of the Democratic National Committee.” - https://pjmedia.com/trending/ny-times-finally-gets-around-to-blaming-mcconnell-for-democrats-blocking-coronavirus-relief-package/
It angers me that people in and around Austin, TX continue to drive out to the rural areas like locusts and wipe out our grocery stores. They are ringing up $1500+ receipts. In our rural areas, there may only be 1 or 2 grocery stores in the entire county. It has taken a few weeks but HEB has put even lower limits on dozens of items to hopefully stop this invasion - see #165.
Last week, San Saba Co, TX, had their only grocery store burn. Thankfully, they rapidly found another building (a closed store) and are trying to get it into service.
I thought so!
Some of those recipes looked familiar.
I loved her recipes.
Now I know where to find them :)
I haven’t heard a siren or boom boom music from a car in years. Still hear plenty of gunshots but the guns aren’t aimed at people.
Our people want to return to work. They will practice Social Distancing and all else, and Seniors will be watched over protectively & lovingly. We can do two things together. THE CURE CANNOT BE WORSE (by far) THAN THE PROBLEM! Congress MUST ACT NOW. We will come back strong!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 24, 2020
Keep in mind that most humans are not persuaded by data—they are persuaded by emotion.
I am becoming convinced that the numbers won’t matter—what will matter is graphic and terrifying videos of public deaths, country by country.
Then the debate will be over, regardless of what the numbers say.
But EVERYONE needs to prepare for supply chain disruptions, quarantine, loss of income, and caring for someone they love who gets sick, either from COVID-19 or from something else when they can't get to see a doctor, because that stuff doesn't even rely on you, personally, getting sick.
This is not about the ridiculous Green New Deal. It is about putting our great workers and companies BACK TO WORK!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 24, 2020
Not too sure how well yukon potatoes will do in the South. I'd go with red potatoes. You might want to add "greens", collards, mustard, turnip, and even kale. Don't forget peppers, especially green bell peppers. And you'll want green beans (what we call snap beans - pole type), and maybe pole type butter beans.
Think about planting salad vegetables too, lettuces, carrots, radishes, red or vidalia onions, and of course cucumbers! :)
We have deleted this tweet and corrected our story because it did not reflect the full nature of the self-medication done with an additive commonly used to clean fish tanks. https://t.co/0zucqRaIkI pic.twitter.com/3YY86rju2w— Axios (@axios) March 24, 2020
“He said what happens there will happen in California, Illinois, and everywhere.”
I am very afraid is correct in his statement. We are three to four weeks behind New York City. People fleeing New York to Fort Lauderdale is already spreading the virus.
That’s correct, and while probably not stating explicitly, it was the implication.
