Vitamin C is extremely unlikely to help people fight off the new coronavirus.
When afflicted with the common cold, many people chug orange juice and swallow vitamin C supplements in an attempt to "boost" their immune systems. But vitamin C supplements don't ward off the common cold in most people, and there's even less evidence that they grant immunity against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, became known as an immune-boosting supernutrient after two-time Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling touted the substance's supposed benefits in a series of books, Live Science previously reported. Pauling claimed that taking large doses of vitamin C could not only prevent the common cold, but also help thwart more severe illnesses like cancer and heart disease.
Since Pauling published his books, in the 1970s, his bolder claims have not stood up to scientific scrutiny. However, recent research does suggest that vitamin C supplements reduce the duration of colds in the general population, according to a 2013 review of several dozen studies.
The review found that vitamin C supplements taken during a cold can reduce the duration of the illness by 8% in adults and 14% in children. Practically, that means that supplementing vitamin C can shorten the duration of a cold by about one day. Participants in each study supplemented vitamin C for varying periods, but generally, the daily dose was at least 200 milligrams.
Several of the reviewed studies included people under intense physical stress, including marathon runners and soldiers training in the Arctic. Among these individuals, those who took vitamin C were about half as likely to catch a cold as those who did not take such supplements. But in the general population, the supplements did not prevent the common cold.

Replace it with a Drambuie IV.....................
Garlic will do the job. One or two cloves raw. Get used to it!
We were talking about mononucleosis, which is a virus as well, but IT is spread through saliva, so it’s nicknamed the ‘Kissing Disease’. Garlic stopped her from kissing..............
Lol
Okay, sure. If you say so.
Good news.
But elderberry tincture will. It pretty much destroys virus ability to attach to healthy cells. We make our own and take it everyday during flu season.
All that D3 from the sun likely killed it.
I don’t know, for sure, about colds but... Vitamin C supplements do wonders for my gums. I don’t get a lot of Vitamin C in my diet. (keto) If I don’t take it, my gums get sore and bleed like stuck pigs when I go to the dentist for cleaning.
Even if I just take them a few days before going to the dentist, they always comment on how healthy my gums look. And, I don’t get canker sores when I accidently bite my lip if I’m taking it.
Besides that, the ones I take daily taste great! :-)
It may not be a flu preventative but it does help you maintain your overall health, which will help if you catch the virus.
Take high doses of C and D and magnesium.
*NOT* the ‘RDA’ minimum... 10 times that, until you notice the difference.
This is similar to the recipe we use. We make about three pints per season of it.
...10 times that, until you notice the difference............
LOL!

[[Vitamin D3 in a multi-vitamin along with vitamin K2 is the best defense against flu bugs.]]
Take the “Vit D Hammer”
It’s a one time 50,000 iu dose to ‘hammer the flu’ with- Yes, it’s safe to take that much at once- but don’t keep taking it daily- take it just one time in a week- or maybe it’s two weeks-
Also Sambucol is good to take for some, but can cause something called ‘cytokine crisis’ fro m what I’ve heard- I have never had it happen- but do some research and decide for yourself- Sambucol is supposed to be more effective than Tamiflu- supposedly-
Zinc in another great one to take during flu- it’s also a great preventative, and if you can dissolve some and get it into nostrils, it kills the virus right where it gets into your system BUT- there is a warning about that- Zinc in nose has caused permanent loss of smell in some folks- so they discontinued it in Zicam- so again- do your research first and decide for yourself if you wanna risk it- (Note- million of people took zicam with zinc nasal swabs and were just fine- only a very few lost their smell- and likely it was due to overloading their noses with the stuff like some are apt to do- they think if a little is good, a lot must be better-
You could also use alcohol, isopropyl, which kills virus cells- in nostrils and around nose if you think someone has been sick around you- I think alcohol is pretty safe if it gets in nose- but do not overdo it and do some research on it- it should be safe around and slightly in nose- but again -research it and decide for yourself- the nose is the ‘hot spot’ for getting the virus-
it certainly won’t hurt to try it if God forbid you get a flu- if it doesn’t work- oh well- no big loss- if it does- Yay- Try to Vit D hammer too- see my post above for that info- it certainly won’t hurt anything- and may just knock a flu or cold on it’s butt-
