My proposal for health care visit safety:
The current practice is to walk into a doctor’s office, check in with the receptionist, wait in a waiting room with sick people and only see the doctor after a long wait.
Instead, the patient might park in the doctor’s parking lot, check in the receptionist via cell phone, wait in one’s own car until the doctor is almost ready to see his/her next patient and await a phone call to come into the office.
Doctors might put plastic runners over carpet so most place a patient might walk can be cleaned well on a daily basis.
There is also the matter of segregated scheduling. Patients over 60 years of age might be scheduled for Tuesday through Friday mornings if possible.
AUSTRALIA
Australia coronavirus cases rise after fresh cases in Queensland and New South Wales
Fresh cases of coronavirus in Queensland and New South Wales overnight have raised the number of confirmed cases in Australia.
Two fresh cases of coronavirus in Queensland and New South Wales overnight have raised confirmed cases in Australia to 61.
New South Wales now has the highest number of cases with 28 infected.
Victoria has 10 cases and there are one each in Northern Territory and Tasmania.
South Australia has 7 confirmed cases.
Here is an interesting take from WHO, regarding their death rate as applied to different medical pre-conditions:
Cardiovascular disease : 10.5%
Diabetes : 7.3%
Chronic respiratory disease : 6.3%
Hypertension : 6.0%
Cancer : 5.6%
no pre-existing conditions : 0.9%
The Diabetes one is scary, because we have a LOT of people in this country that are diabetic.
Bet lots of over 60 Freepers followin this...
Wondering if this virus will died down in the spring / summer time. Are the cases in Australia related to people who flew in?
So the viral load is that the amount of virus you breath in?
So are casinos IMHO. The thought of ppl in close quarters touching slot machines with their bare hands has put me off visiting one of them for a while, lol.
The thought of my money buying fake money, and then throwing the fake money away in various games I can’t win, has kept me away from Casinos for my entire life. :)
Live thread, until...Bring Out Your DeadRight before The Walking Dead.
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
The US Federal Reserve has begun quarantining physical dollars that it repatriates from Asia before recirculating them in the US financial system as a precautionary measure against spreading the virus, a Fed spokesperson told Reuters.

Patient Zero in WA
Didnt he die? I cant keep track
On admission, the patient reported persistent dry cough and a 2-day history of nausea and vomiting; he reported that he had no shortness of breath or chest pain.
A chest radiograph taken on hospital day 3 (illness day 7) was reported as showing no evidence of infiltrates or abnormalities (Figure 3). However, a second chest radiograph from the night of hospital day 5 (illness day 9) showed evidence of pneumonia in the lower lobe of the left lung (Figure 4)
Compare to chest xray results. Btw, they list blood count levels so something you should be aware of
Detection of 2019-nCoV RNA in specimens from the upper respiratory tract with low Ct values on day 4 and day 7 of illness is suggestive of high viral loads and potential for transmissibility.
An Internet blogger I respect is Charles Hughes Smith.
Here is his take on the virus:
https://www.zerohedge.com/health/gathering-storm-could-covid-19-overwhelm-us-months-ahead
No tests, no diagnoses, no problem!
Although serum specimens from our case patient were repeatedly negative for 2019-nCoV, viral RNA has been detected in blood in severely ill patients in China.4
Which suggests the numbers they reported are even worse.
I agree.
