Neil Peart, the drummer of iconic Canadian band Rush, has died at age 67.
The influential musician and lyricist died Tuesday in Santa Monica, Calif., after having been diagnosed with brain cancer, according to a statement issued Friday by family spokesperson Elliot Mintz.

Just realized that. But still! I’m gonna be a mess when one of the Wilson sisters go, especially Nancy. She was my inspiration to pick up the guitar, and it’s been 40+ years.
And The Trees. But, he got annoyed when anyone brought up Ayn Rand to him and said he no longer believed what he believed in his 20s.

He was a notoriously private man, so we wont know unless the family decides to reveal that.
Saw the 50th Anniversary release of “Let it Bleed” at the store, today. Ugh!

Had some friends in college that went up to Montreal to see Aerosmith.
Rush was the warm up, and they told that when the drummer, I’m assuming it was Peart, opened the set, the arena went silent.
Rush out-shined Aerosmith that night, and were replaced soon after for the rest of Aerosmith’s tour.
Sad. He was my favorite drummer and lyricist. The world has lost a true treasure. His lyrics were often conservative too. Ayn Rand was one of his influences.
