Astronomers unveiled new insights by NASA's TESS this week at the American Astronomical Society meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The satellite spotted a new Earth-like exoplanet within its star's habitable zone, a new Tatooine star system, and a strange eclipse.
TESS has been working hard to uncover new corners of the universe since its launch in 2018.
Exoplanet enthusiasts, rejoice! This week, scientists revealed a series of new discoveries made by NASAs Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). The telescope has spotted a number of strange new worlds circling star systems near and far, the scientists announced at the 235th meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Honolulu, Hawaii.
From Tatooine-like systems to habitable worlds to starry eclipses, TESS has been busy uncovering the universe's oddities since launching in 2018. A follow-up to the prolific Kepler mission, which discovered about 70 percent of the approximately 4,000 exoplanets known to science today, TESS is scheduled to scan 200,00o of the night's brightest stars for insight into their solar systems. It's expected to conduct this survey over the course of two years, focusing on small chunks of the night sky at a time.

Yes, and along with them, all their beloved terrorists and illegals.
It’s an alternate earth... and there I am the King of England!
Nice to meet you, Your Majesty.
Would you care for some tea?...............................
Jabba is gone but if we are lucky then Boba is still in the sarlacc.
Being “earth sized” and in the “habitable zone” are really just starting points for the possibility to have life or be able to sustain life.
Does it have an enormous moon such as earth does to cause tides which create tidal pools which could incubate early forms of life?
Does it have tectonic plates which could create undersea volcanic activity which could incubate early forms of life?
Does it have a liquid iron core which generates strong magnetic waves which could protect life from radiation?
Does it have several enormous gas giants next door to it protecting it from interstellar debris zooming through it’s solar system and thus prolonging the time between catastrophic cosmic impacts?
There is much more than size and location to being “earth like”.
Like any prime Real Estate, it’s value depends on LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! ...........................
What about Pizza the Hutt? :)
“...Well send them there WITH a copy of the Constitution...”
Nah.
The Constitution belongs to Americans. Even a 100th generation copy, printed on lousy paper is sacred, and shouldn’t be touched by them.
They can have Marx’s Communist Manifesto. Or Hitler’s Mein Kampf, as it’s more in line with their thinking.
“...We should call it New Mecca...”
Actually, “Douchebag Hell” would be more appropriate.
Send the muzzies up there with them, and we’ll see exactly how long they remain buddy-buddy when there’s only those two groups to hate.
Popcorn time. Fun to watch.
Must be that other planet liberals are living on.
Epstein didnt kill himself there, either.
What if theres another earth in exactly the same orbit as ours, exactly the same size, exactly the same speed, and exactly 180 degrees of circumference away? We would never know it because it would always be behind the sun. (Perhaps thered be gravitational impact on Mars or Venus, but maybe not)
Movie, Journey to the Far Side of the Sun, was based upon that premise.
People there exact copy of us all, except backwards alphabet, left handed, etc...................
I just switched machines for a minute, that’s a remarkable image, is it from TESS, or an artist’s conception?
Probably an artist’s conception. Our TESS ain’t THAT good!................
