I'm smug because I've got my Christmas shopping done, other than some stocking stuffers.
Share your stories here, whether you've braved it in person, or done your shopping at home, in your peejays.
As long as Lowe’s has their huge gift card display...I’ll be done Friday.
I've one of these for four years and it's never even hiccuped:
Nope, but thanks, good tip. I've got a box that turns a 3.0 port from the aging laptop into a hub, ethernet port, and HDMI (1080p) output (the RJ45 and HDMI on the laptop are shot). I may just break down and get a mini box for less than $200 and start using the laptop for on-the-go. Trouble is, I don't really go anywhere. :^) I need the USB hub for a stick CPU that's just been added to the big-assed TV. Actually, I'm using a Voult hub/ethernet adapter I'd formerly used on the laptop, and it works fine, but I'm looking at interesting stocking stuffer options.
Mmmmm, cookies?
Thanks!
I think I’ve watched the “top 5 mesh wi-fi” vid seen in the search results. This isn’t exactly Xmas shopping, but what about these, has anyone here used them?

I’m doing a full online shopping blitz tonight and tomorrow. No way on earth I’ll set foot in a brick and mortar store anymore. Part of my shopping is already done, anyway.
Anything USB 3.0 & powered.
My Black Friday shopping days are long over, but I remember decades ago waiting in front of our local WalMart stores to open so as to procure a free dust buster with a red devil vacuum purchase. There were about 2 dozen women and one guy. We were poised at the store front with shopping carts at the ready. The doors were opening and that guys voice rang out...ladies, start your engines. I was the only woman who laughed. Told the guy that was well played. I still chuckle over that morning. Yeah, I snagged myself a vacuum and the freebie.
My wife and I have been attending a synagogue since 2014. Therefore we don’t have to participate in Christmas anymore, because technically we’re now Jewish.
These days I just send some money to my daughter in Georgia, so she can buy presents for her family, and then I’m all done for Christmas.
Tomorrow I plan to spend the day Uber driving, instead of fighting the crowds of shoppers.
Meanwhile, due to the movers causing damage to my TV stand, I bought a new one for an excellent price at Target. It had the shelves but not the metal mount, so I picked one of those up at Amazon. Due to the different configuration of this dwelling from the one I sold in NYC, I've had to buy tons of things to create storage space; Sterlite drawers, bookcases, etageres, etc. Amazon's been making out from my purchases alone, as are Target and IKEA. On tonight's menu, we have hemming new curtains and putting together the second of the 2 etageres. Tomorrow's menu will include putting together a bookcase or two. Great for counting calories, these non-eating menus!
We stopped at the local Wal-Mart tonight to pick up some Wrangler jeans at the “Black Thursday” sale price. Technically, the price wasn’t supposed to go into effect until 6 PM, when the madness goes into full swing, but for some reason the jeans scanned at the sale price and we were able to get out of there before 6.
The store was really starting to fill up before we left. Over the last few years, I’ve noticed a sharp increase in the number of 3rd world immigrants at these sales. They tend to bring their entire families along—grandma, grandpa, and all the kids, which adds to the craziness.
The rest of my Christmas shopping I’ll do online or at non-peak times.
I like the Ankar line, powered or non-powered, have done me well w/ USB hubs.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot for the past few years, since the first time I watched a vid about it:

Ooooh, good idea, Uber driving during the shopping season, going to be bunches of business from shoppers!
One stop shopping, nice. I've done that at Sam's Club before, they at least used to have such displays.
[snip] Imports of Thanksgiving-related products Has Dropped 11.3% from a year ago.
That data covers the five months ending on October 31 — the peak season for Thanksgiving imports. This time of the year, American consumers buy things like turkey fryers, seasonal crockery, and decorations. But a lot of those things are from China. in fact, last year, almost three-quarters of Thanksgiving were Chinese imports.
And so, you could say that one consequence of the U.S.-China trade war is fewer turkey fryers in American kitchens. Specifically, American imports of turkey fryers fell almost 14% from last year. [/snip]
You probably want a powered hub, unless you are using if for data only, and never connect an unpowered appliance, or use it as a charger.
