Despite flashing elite arm strength and fluidity in the pocket during his public workout last week, Colin Kaepernick has reportedly received "zero" interest from NFL teams.
Zero. Absolutely zero. The workout last week did absolutely nothing to enhance the chances that Colin Kaepernick is going to wind up with another team," ESPN's Adam Schefter said Sunday on SportsCenter. "There hasnt been a team that has requested a workout. There hasnt been a team that has requested a visit. There hasnt been a team that has expressed interest in signing him. So, despite the fact that one week ago we saw Colin Kaepernick work out at the high school down in the Atlanta area, it has not translated into any results, and though the league wanted to try to help out, at least said it was trying to help out, nothings come of it. Colin Kaepernicks wait continues and it looks like its going to be continuing for a very, very, very long time.
Kaepernick worked out in front of eight NFL teams last weekend in Atlanta, backing out of a league-scheduled event in favor of one of his own. The workout was streamed and made available to media after Kaepernick and the NFL could not come to terms on details of a tryout that was scheduled for the Atlanta Falcons' facility.
"I've been ready for three years," Kaepernick said after the workout, per Vaughn McClure of ESPN. "I've been denied for three years. We all know why I came out here. [I] showed it today in front of everybody. We have nothing to hide. So we're waiting for the 32 owners, 32 teams, [Commissioner] Roger Goodell, all of them stop running. Stop running from the truth. Stop running from the people.
"We're out here. We're ready to play. We're ready to go anywhere. My agent, Jeff Nalley, is ready to talk [to] any team. I'll interview with any team at any time. I've been ready."
Kaepernick last played for the San Francisco 49ers during the 2016 season. He became a national lightning rod for kneeling during the national anthem as an act of protest against racial discrimination and police brutality. Earlier this year, Kaepernick, Panthers safety Eric Reid and the NFL came to a settlement on a lawsuit filed by the players claiming the league colluded against them because of their protests.
The initial Kaepernick workout came at the behest of the NFL, rather than individual teams, so it was hard to determine the likelihood of it garnering interest. There was likely additional fallout when Kaepernick pulled out of the NFL workout for one of his own, given only eight teams made the trip; there were at least 25 scheduled for the NFL tryout.
Kaepernick threw for 2,241 yards and 16 touchdowns for the 49ers in 2016 and has thrown for 72 touchdowns against 30 interceptions as an NFL quarterback. He has a 28-30 record as a starter.
Colin O’Scopy..................
Yeah ck doesnt want to play....he just wants to be a perpetual victim raking in millions from the sjw self haters....
So Jeff when are you going to wise up that this horse has died? It just wont run anymore. Bury and walk away like the 32 teams of the NFL
He got exactly what he deserved, nothing.
Yeah, everybody knows he can move around in a pocket, and throw a ball 50 yards. These are not particularly difficult skills.
What they want to see is if he can be a team player and not cause trouble as a bench-warming 3rd-string backup.
And what he proved by his maneuvers was that he cannot. He doesn’t accept limits, or guidance, or any rules or restrictions.
Which, if he was some 20-year-old hotshot, might be ignored, but that is not what you want in your experienced backup quarterback who might not ever throw a pass on the field, but is expected to run the offense in practices and teach things to the hotshot starter.
The only way he was going to get a spot on a roster is if some team is in contention and then their starter and backup both get broken, and then it would be a short-term contract which he won’t sign.
You mean like Johnny Football Manziel, who is now doing Commercials for auto insurance companies.................
Best news I’ve heard today.
I wonder, has the new XFL or whatever theyre calling it - the league that starts AFTER the Super Bowl, have any of those teams called for an experienced star quarterback??
He’s on the self-inflicted injury list.
Arm strength OK.
Good judgement? Are you kidding? And his behavior on tryout Saturday emphasized that his judgement hasn’t gotten any better.
It was more of a publicity stunt than a tryout.
The NFL bent over backwards to give him this audition and he blew it.
Too many bridges burned now. He’s too much of a distraction and headache for the owners.
I’d be surprised if he got a job in the CFL.
Stick a fork in it.
where is Johnny Manziel?
Rehab, clubbing and boozing with his dwindling posse.
Poor oppressed millionaire.
Why oh why, won't the NFL allow Negros to play?
What?
Since 1946?
Kenny Washington in the Rams?
Oh. Nevermind.
But he'd WANT starting QB salary.
What team would take THAT on, with salary caps?
They'd be better off paying big bucks for a left tackle.
The guy is *also* 32.
That's when premier QBs start getting really good.
No team wants a has-been that was on the decline to begin with.
It’s a shame. IMO he has made some really bad choices (the protests) and followed some really bad advice (girlfriend). His attitude stinks, saying he is being denied. It has cost him a career, probably not a great one but a career. I wonder if he looks back and wonders where he would be today if he had not taken that knee.
“Some men, you just can’t reach.....”
There are only so many player positions in the NFL and the one thing I have not heard from any Kaepernick advocate is the name of the current player who should be cut (fired) to make a position available.
