PEARLAND, Texas (CBS Local) — Muscovy ducks are taking over a town in Texas and residents are now being encouraged to trap or even shoot them in some cases.
The City of Pearland is allowing landowners and homeowner’s associations (HOAs) to “address the ducks as seen fit, and within legal parameters, by the HOA or the landowner.”
Pearland is designated as a bird sanctuary city but the Muscovy duck is considered an invasive species from Central and South America and are therefore not protected.
“From the reports that we’ve heard, (the ducks) tend to be aggressive on properties and they push other species out and different things like that,” city spokesman Joshua Lee told KTRK.

We have these hideous things all over our area in NE Florida. They are an ugly, filthy scat dropping invasive species that the fish and wildlife folks are trying to eliminate but they breed like, well, winged rats. The stupid thing is that we cannot legally kill them... However, if one is found to be feeding them or transporting them to another location you can be fined for supporting an invasive species. Typical government logic.
Why in the world would the overlords not allow eating a duck that you kill?

But those townfolk voted for those people so they got the government they deserve.

A rabbit is a rodent too. And, as I’ve explained to my suburb raised wife and offspring (still averse to ever eating one, stewed, fried, or otherwise), it’s nature’s best little four footed meal. Squirrels would be a close second. Surprising that Cajuns in particular, the people who can make chicken salad out of chicken $#/+, wouldn’t try something else in the same genus.
