I received word from 2ndDivisionVet wife that he passed away.
I am not using his real name here out of respect but, will ping his handle and his wife can if she would like.
I didn't ask what he died from but, knowing him for better than 10 years, I knew of medical conditions and a few terrible Operations he had.
He was a wonderful human being who cared deeply for his fellow Americans and the ideals that make this country so great that people the world over want to come here and be free, live in liberty and be whoever they want
If you have ever spoke with 2ndDivisionVet, you know he was quick witted and wry.
What had always amazed me about him was not just his humor but, his ability to somehow take life in stride despite all he endured and be cheerfull.
He was amazingly resourceful in scouring the web for article we might find interesting.
Yes, 2ndDivisionVet really cared about all of us and our presence in his life gave him purpose
I really wish God had let him stay but, my thoughts are more selfish than the absolute knowledge that he is in a better place.
I hope to see him again one day.
Rest in peace and smile down on us 2ndDivisionVet
Thanks for the pings. Condolences to family and friends of ‘Vet. Thank you, sir.

Vendome: Thank you for your post and for such a beautiful eulogy.
You expressed the thoughts of so many Freepers who have known him as a household name on FR for so many, many years.
2ndDivisionVet is an exceptional man of grace, intelligence, wit, resilience, dedication, and compassion ...and gifted with a generous community spirit-— all which made him such a precious member to FR.
For a committed Christian, as Apostle Paul said, to be absent from the body is to be [instantly and fully] present with the Lord. 2ndDivisionVet has joined the Body of Christ in Heaven, a citizen of Heaven-— and no doubt a most valuable addition there as he was here on earth.
Prayers for his wife and family in their bereavement. And may they know how much FR appreciated him and his body of contributions here.
Yes. He lived near me and gave out info on our area. He may have been the only person on this board who knows my real name. He helped when no one else would. Shedding some tears to be honest.
Very sad news.
We are at that age where sad news like this is part of our life.
RIP my friend.
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, RIP friend.
Condolences.
