Kamala Harris Set To Raise Money With Former Wells Fargo Executive

A former Wells Fargo executive who defended the bank during its massive fake accounts scandal is hosting a fundraiser for Democratic California Sen. Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign on Saturday, according to an invitation obtained by HuffPost.

The former executive, Miguel Bustos, worked from 2013 to 2017 as Wells Fargo’s senior vice president of government and community relations, where he oversaw lobbying and community outreach efforts in six western states: California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Montana and Utah.

Five Directors on Expanded HIP Board Bring Varied Areas of Expertise

Hispanics in Philanthropy would like to warmly welcome five new members to its board, which has been expanded this year from a prior maximum of 13 to a new maximum of 16 directors.

The new directors include: Miguel Bustos, who previously served on the HIP board and lives in San Francisco; Rafael Cortés Dapena, head of Fundación Ángel Ramos located in Puerto Rico; Intel Foundation Chair Shelly M. Esque, an Arizonan; Rui Mesquita Cordeiro, the W.K. Kellogg Foundations’ program leader for Latin America, and Dr. Beatriz Maria Solís, a Healthy Communities leader at The California Endowment in Southern California.

Here’s a brief look at this impressive group:

Bustos

Miguel Bustos, who is based in his native San Francisco, is the Wells Fargo senior vice president, community relations, and outreach regional director for Northern and Central California, Montana, and Alaska. He previously managed grantmaking for the Levi Strauss Foundation in Latin America and Canada focusing on HIV/AIDS, asset building, and workers’ rights, as well as being responsible for Community Involvement Teams in both places. He was also responsible for the foundation’s U.S. HIV/AIDS grantmaking endeavors.

Beyond the philanthropic sector, Miguel has been a distinguished public servant who advised President Clinton and Vice President Gore at the White House, and worked for U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Oakland). He also served as director of boards and commissions under then-San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and as director of intergovernmental affairs for then-Oakland Mayor Ronald V. Dellums.

He earned a bachelor of arts degree in international affairs from Holy Names University, in Oakland, California; a master of arts degree in international relations from American University, in Washington, D.C., and a master’s degree in business administration with a focus on corporate social responsibility from St. Mary’s College of California. In addition to joining the HIP board, Miguel also currently sits on the boards of Glide Memorial Church and the Mexican Museum, both in San Francisco.

Glide and the foundation bought the Hotel Californian two blocks from the church in 1935 and it was operated as a temperance hotel for decades. She also funded a home for young working Christian women and a dorm for young Christian women at U.C. Berkeley.^[1]

I hadn’t visited NEON REVOLT for quite some time, so I decided to wander over there and read about the Wilson Memo yesterday.

Crikey! I blew quite a bit of productive time fixated on reading all that, and even found myself stumbling through the giggly weeds reading about the alien base in Dulce, New Mexico.

I was supposed to be laying tile for a bathroom remodel. The lovely Mrs. Guy ended up standing in front of me with arms folded. In my neck of the woods, that’s “THE SIGN”.

The question NOT asked...

Given her parents employment...was she bussed OUT OF a predominantly white, “rich” neighborhood to a lower performing school in a “black” neighborhood?? See, bussing worked both ways.

Naaah. Daddy/mommy were political activists and chose to live with their peeps.

The optics looked like to me was a “black” “woman” primping up with emotion as she told of her success of becoming a US senator as a result of a progressive idea of busing for integration while the old white man, though she said he wasn’t a racist, held firm to the old regressive, oppressive idea of anti-busing.

The only thing that could have made that scene better would have been she “came out” about being gay and/or wearing a t-shirt with a picture of the drowned person of color and his child who perished in their struggle from oppression just wanting sweet freedom and a better life for his chile.

Plenty of time to Nov 2020 though. Save ammo.

As soon as I get it deposited anc cleared I’m headed to PA again to deliver the $ to me mum in person, she’ll like that. Of course I’m going to put that off for a week or so.

People probably won’t like riding with me though, I don’t like to stop but I do try to now because of my neck.
