A New York Times article claiming that Jesus was most likely a Palestinian man with dark skin is generating a fierce push-back from the Jewish community.
The executive director of Bostons Jewish Community Relations Council, Jeremy Burton, tweeted, Important to point out that no, Jesus did not identify as Palestinian. He was a Judean Jew and for him, the term Palestine was that of the Roman occupier.
A professor of Jewish history at Yeshiva University, Steven Fine, responded on the Times comments page that for sure Jesus was a youngish Jewish man who looked like other Jews of his place and time.

I’m shocked that the New York Times even acknowledged that Christ existed.
Haven’t they read the Bible (no answer needed)? Jesus was from the direct line of King David. That sorta kinda makes him Jewish a little bit.
I had a VERY high-IQ ex-pastor who is now a Karl Barth disciple in a liberal denomination.
One day he said Jesus was an itinerant Palestinian preacher.
I left the church REAL quick after that.....
No such country as Palestine then or now. I’ve heard preachers today call it Palestine.
A TV preacher named David Jeremiah called Israel Palestine.
David Jeremiah ought to know better....
honestly.
They think that we think he looked like the depictions that we see of him. No we don’t. One of the magazines (Popular Mechanics!) felt that it was necessary to put a composite picture on its cover. It looked like a neanderthal bum. That was designed to shock Christians in their faith.
Didn’t work. This won’t either.
Ancient Jews had red hair... King David for example.
If Jesus looked different from other Jews in the area, there would not have been any need for Judas to point him out to arrest him.
Left is totally obsessed with skin color. Its amazing. Their hate for white skin is enough that they are starting to hate Jews because they have white skin.
“Then they gathered around him and asked him, Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel? (Acts 1:6)
Doesn’t sound like they thought he was a palestinian...
If I am not mistaken, his lineage traced to King David on his Mother AND his father’s side.
When the Hell has the new york times ever been Right about anything.
Wasn’t he from Galilee ?
I’ve also heard him referred to as “The Nazarene” As in jesus of Nazareth.
