A "life hack" phrase that describe any hacks, tips and tricks that get things done quickly by automating, increase productivity and organizing (formerly called a "good ideas."
Examples: putting soap and water in a blender and turn it on to clean it. Heating a cup of water in the microwave to loosen the food. Using a shoe as a cupholder. (Millions of things you can do with duct tape).
I believe the older generation probably had many of these, particularly for home remedies.
Which "life hacks" can you recommend?
To make a razor blade (shaving) last and last and last:
1. Tap the razor on the edge of a counter to shake off any excess water.
2. Use a hand-held hair dryer to completely dry the blades.
3. Finally, dip the blades in baby oil or mineral oil. This will protect the blades from oxidation (microscopic rusting).
It works! I can usually get a few months of shaving from one blade. Try it. You’ll be surprised.
That setup was on the news last year when the whole West Coast was smoked from forest fires. Portland had the 2nd worst air quality in the world one day.
I can attest to this.
When I was a 6 year old boy I got lent out to a neighbor to keep her 90 year old father company. The woman and her husband were avid skeet shooters. I got paid a penny a shell to de-prime them. The old guy reloaded 'em. I think it was probably only a dozen afternoons in my life, but it looking back, it seems like it lasted years. RIP Mr. Shultz.
Avoid negative people.
I heard, If it flys, floats, or f***s, lease it!
+.
My mama taught me this.
I’ve tried in vain to teach my kids. They insist on getting a 10-day prescription for antibiotics.
I follow the salty hot-water gargle with listerine gargle & sore throat is gone.
For sinus or chest congestion, boil a pot of water & add a teaspoon of thyme. Breathe steam. Works great for baby’s colic, too.
The medicinal ingredient in chicken soup is thyme.
I do that! LOL!
Need a planner?
Download the templates in the style you like, re-use a 3 ring binder, use a binder clip to hold index cards for portable lists. Get a notebook to write things down that you can add later to your planner.
I used to use a computer but I found I could not remember anything so I switched to paper and fountain pens.
I used to have a planner. I was real good at writing stuff down in it. Real organized about that.
To the best of my memory, I never once read anything out of it though.
“Youll have a nice fire starter for your fireplace or campfire.”
Laundry lint works well and hand sanitizer is called Boy Scout napalm for a reason
I can think of a few that will boost your kid's SAT scores ...
I wet tissue with water and throw it on the spider or other creepy crawly and then pick it up with dry tissues or papertowels.
Domino’s thin pizza is even better than Pizza Hut and I didn’t think that was possible,
I also distract the bug by wiggling my fingers on one side of it, while I slap the wet tissue on the other side.
I have to read it all the time. It contains project ticket numbers, grocery lists, notes from meetings, things I need to do, things I need to get, etc.
If I write it long-hand, I am more likely to remember it.
I usually just grab them with a wad of dry toilet paper. There was one on the wall, years ago. My mom went one way, I went the other. I came back with the wad of TP. and she came back with a hammer.
I had a roommate that would put volatile trading liquid in a jar and go around holding it under the little flies on the ceiling. After a few seconds they’d succumb to the fumes and drop into the jar.
Always have a “Paper Clip” on hand.
I have Hot-wired a number of cars with a Paper clip.
That’s what I do. I have 3 “glued” together sometimes, lol.
Use your forearm as a strop to resharpen razor cartridges. Go opposite the normal blade direction ... you’re not trying to shave your arm. Make ten strokes.
My cartridges now last until I get tired of using them.
