One of the most severe cold air outbreaks in years is possible from the Upper Midwest to the Northeast next week as the jet stream crashes south and a large lobe of the polar vortex plunges toward the Great Lakes.

Reason #294 I don’t live in the north.
LOL...
Lucy, Do you know where that photo was taken?
Sorry, no. I searched for the most dramatic severe weather photo available and decided this was 'it.'
Yes but they need to be challenged on that spin. They are still saying that the threat is the rising sea levels due to ice melting from the green house effect. In other words, WARMING. If there is no warming, the whole thing collapses. And so far, it aint looking too good for it, if you look at the data honestly.
She predicts that in about 10 years, there will be minimal vegetation growth anywhere on the planet.
She also says we’ll know if she’s right or not in about two years.
It was milder.
Until this week.
Yep. Weatherbell’s winter forecast is spot on the money. Had you invested in natural gas futures when the forecast was made you’d have done very well.
From some Agricultural folks (posted early December):
Most, if not all, of the Midwest will have colder-than-normal temperatures both January and February and overall, probably drier than normal conditions, except for areas from the Tennessee Valley, south, who will probably have more rain/snow than normal, Hoffman says.
If youre in the Midwest and have livestock or winter crops, keep an eye out for freeze damage on crops and cold weather hazards in non-confined livestock.
NOAA experts explains that certain other climate patterns are difficult to predict but can still affect winter weather. For example, Arctic Oscillation influences how many times arctic air masses move farther southwhich has a great effect on the East Coast. In addition, the Madden-Julian Oscillation can create snowfall and heavy rain in the West Coast when El Niño is weak, as forecasters expect.
Have a plan for cold weather on your farm operation. Be prepared to protect livestock, and ready yourself for spring if winter crops might have damage. Have backup crops in mind and a threshold of damage considered so youre ready to roll once spring comes.
Now that is a tad too much snow. Where is that picture taken?
So, 15 years will be about 2030 for cooler temperatures.
Around year 2000 it was slightly warmer temperatures.
In the 1970’s, it was cooler temperatures.
Many things are cyclical.
Wish Manhattan did that. They do have a lot of underground passages but they are not interconnected. Just crossing one street in Manhattan last week was enough to give me a touch of frost bite.
Greatest weatherman ever!
I don’t know where it was taken, but check out metmom’s #74 where she said they had that much snow during the Blizzard of 1977 in Buffalo, NY.
That’s a lot of snow!
Interesting.
Cause I don’t recall that it was that bad during the Maunder Minimum.
It was.
I was standing next to a front loader looking down on it as it cleared the street near my friend’s sister’s buried (and destroyed) car.
It was a convertible.
Emphasis on the was.
Typical progs. They want to stop climate change by changing the climate.
Yup!
Thanks!
