Which of this generation's biggest tech luminaries and innovators will ultimately be remembered for having the greatest lasting effect on the world?
It's a tough question, especially when you consider the role that people like Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg play in our everyday lives. But, if you ask renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, the answer is simple: Elon Musk.
"As important as Steve Jobs was, no doubt about it [and] you have to add him to Bill Gates, because they birthed the personal computing revolution kind of together here's the difference: Elon Musk is trying to invent a future, not by providing the next app," deGrasse Tyson tells CNBC Make It about the Tesla and SpaceX CEO.

As I said this morning on another thread, the Principled Conservative is the reliable, secret weapon of the Left.
I see the criticism of Musk as more yapping of the Principled Conservative.
I grew up, inspired towards a career in engineering by the early efforts of the space race. I see SpaceX as a way of salvaging some of this generation who are being so betrayed by the public education racket. Some will be inspired to reach and SpaceX will be one of the platforms for them.
We stand on the shoulders of giants who went before us!
SpaceX is revolutionizing space travel.
SpaceX has a 96.88% launch success rate (62 out of 64) with the Falcon 9. This launch success is with five major design changes for the Falcon 9 rocket.
There has been 84% success on landing first stages (31 out of 37). All landings in 2017 and 2018 have been successful other than the loss of the center stage for the Falcon Heavy.
There has been 100% success on re-flights (17 out of 17) of boosters.
In my minds eye, I keep seeing the Vanguard light, lift maybe ten feet, and then start eating itself.
Thanks for publishing the statistics.

Hey, wardaddy, I agree that good LSD is beneficial to the intelligent user.
Were you one of them --- "man of knowledge"?
****
Somehow ........ I know you enjoyed yourself and learned on "acid".
Tell us all what you have learned, wise guy.
You always seem to want to make a sideways comments here and then disappear. You sound like a coward without talking about your excellent LSD experiences.
By the way ............. I was I was at CMU/ Carnegie Tech during the Lysergic Acid Diethylamide // Owsley screw-arounds in Pittsburgh.

Tell us, wardaddy, what you learned.
No anti-southern sentiment here from me, which you claim and claimed on previous threads and posts.
I LOVE THE SOUTH. But you, with the two beautiful poochies peering through the car window, are not candid or honest and hit on anyone who you feel has bad feelings toward you and The South.
I hear you have a great life story. That is wonderful.
But for now............. grow up and act like (BE THE GUY) who has nothing to hide.
*********************
I never have found (or wanted to find) anyone here who dislikes you. That is GOOD.
You just must might want to find a way to treat others better ..... not like a bunch of "southern haters" that you assume.

For heaven's sake, you're 60 years old .......... GROW UP, Charlie.
I just ordered a Tesla Model 3. Taking receipt before Christmas.
Great car!!
Neil just loves a fellow shyster.
He’d be a lot better off cutting loose the albatross around his neck that is the Tesla.
Tyson needs to spend less time on this nonsense and more begging forgiveness from the pound me too crowd.
Yeah, all the Steve Jobs groupies poo-pooh the fact that he denied his own daughter. His daughter and her mother that he abandoned were living in abject poverty in an apartment in the worst part of town when he had $50 million in the bank. He was putting out press releases that she was a shyster and a gold-digger. He saw his daughter for the 2nd time when she was 13, that’s the kind of great guy he was. If I was an immediate relative, I would’ve caught him coming out his front door to go to work and kneecapped him.
I’ve heard some stories about Musk firing people on the spot for things that were never their fault but he still isn’t half the skunk that Steve Jobs was. Job 1: put Tesla out of its misery, it’s a money pit. Legitimate car makers are laughing at the rookie mistakes, it’s a glorified golf cart that nobody wants.
Sure, jobs was a monetary success but I don’t call the abandonment and denial of your daughter “doing OK”, especially when he had $50 million in the bank and it was only going up. What a guy, an example to us all. If your son-in-law abandoned your pregnant daughter like that, I’m harboring serious doubts that you’d be telling people that he done good.
Tyson is out of his league here - he knows little to nothing about innovation, production, transportation, computer science, computing. Tyson is best known for a failed remake of Sagan’s Cosmos.
Youre commenting on Jobs out of context to what I specifically replied to which was his business acumen from jump street
In repossessed to a poster bashing Musk smoking weed
I said Jobs and Gates and Allen and Wozniak and Larry Ellison too all dropped acid
And contributed to successful start ups
And in my own experience acid is far more controversial for the brain than pot
Likely none of them are or were terrific parents
Its tough to do that and be that ambitious
Although Wozniak gave it up...the rat race
