Nope.
If RBG assumes room temperature, the next Trump nominee will be more than accused, they will be outright framed.....................
Prediction #2: Since Supreme Court nominations are thoroughly politicized, the nominees will become nothing more than bearers of political messages. It's only a matter of time before someone who isn't even a lawyer is nominated for the Supreme Court.
Kavanaugh was already confirmed to the appeals court 57-36 in 2006, 6 fib background checks...This was a #showtrial brought to you by the ceckless funts in the republican party. They are POS down to the last man.
As long as Republican presidents nominate someone, the Democrats will pull this bull$&$& with any such nominee.
We will only see minimal hearings, if a Democrat president in the future, has a Democrat controlled Senate managing the nomination.
The Dems want to name RBG’s replacement.
Closed hearings only, no cameras. If the public wants to see the candidate he/she can do an interview or read up on them
No, There is no greater opportunity for senators to grandstand than on SCOTUS nominations. They won’t give that up.
And you can’t stop claims of sexual misconduct from going to the press first. So I see this as being an unavoidable circus.
certainly this Ford/Feinstein krap has made a mockery.. a laughing stock... of the Senate Judiciary Committee ...
it has to be avoided in future FOR SURE!
(whether this obtains or not is not up to the president, however, its up to the Senate how to conduct its business...)
Liberals destroy everything they touch.
Yes, I think they should be dropped. Won’t happen, but still, just let the nominee present themselves, maybe the ranking members get a few minutes each for Q&A, then vote.
If anything, what this is going to do, this attempt to smear a BELIEVER, a Catholic man who has led a godly life, married a godly woman, and raised a devoted family .... it opens up every.single.candidate.for.anything to last-minute allegations.
Those of you who pillage Catholics endlessly on this forum, I warn you, the Democrats are coming for you NEXT.
What we longtime FReepers are going to do, is what we always do, is to learn from this, inculcate the lessons observed, and incorporate it into our modus operandi from here forward. And then deploy it better than the Democrats EVER IMAGINED POSSIBLE. Just. Like. We. Did. In. 2016.
You want to be President in 2020, Mr. Biden? Why did you molest my college freshman daughter in an elevator in the Dirksen Senate Office Building while it was stuck between floors somewhere between 199?-199?No, it's on like Donkey Kong after this. There will be no end to it. Scorched Earth. You want to be Secretary of State under Biden-Karamela, Mr. Schumer? Why did you hold my teenage son inappropriately at an Oscar's after-after-party at Chasen's two or three decades ago?
Who needs hearings when you have a kangaroo court...?
Imagine the public spectacle that will occur when the semi-comatose Ginsburg doesn’t wake up from one of her naps.
Actually if they cave on Kavanaugh the process will be broken beyond repair. Future Majority Leaders may have no option than to take all nominees directly to the floor.
Mind you Kavanaugh was THOROUGHLY vetted by the current process in a way that would no longer take place if this occurs.
Irony: The Mark of Quality Literature.
The process should start out with the statement that they will hold the hearing BUT nothing afterwards
The Demonut party has become nothing but a Sideshow filled with Freaks and Perverts
I looked at the Washington Post and NY Times websites today.
They each have a picture from Kavanaugh’s 1982 datebook.
He kept the datebook for 35 years.
The handwriting is neat.
Kavanaugh was highly organized and goal directed even back then in high school.
I’m sure he knew he was going to be a target for sex smears and could withstand them.
The Democrats will be far more careful in the future, so the sex smear tool can remain in their political toolbox.
Feinstein had fully justified doubts about using the sex smear tool.
Nope. They’ll only get worse. The parties are both addicted to grandstanding for their base at this point. Especially when it’s near election time. Expect future nominees to require months of “vetting” and probably 2 or 3 rejections before they finally let one through. American politics is theater, badly written melodrama theater no less.
