Solo: A Star Wars Story has mustered only $264 million at the worldwide box office, but one prominent voice on Wall Street blames the misfire on poor marketing, not a larger issue with the franchise.
Doug Creutz, a veteran media analyst at Cowen, issued a report to investors that reaffirmed his market perform rating on Disney shares. While the report is based on his financial view of the company, it allows the analyst a chance to wade directly into the pop-culture waters to offer his take on why Solo stumbled. Point by point, the report knocks down some of the suggested cultprits, from production woes to tight release calendar spacing just five months after The Last Jedi, to lingering fan animus toward TLJ, If the franchise was able to survive Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, we have a hard time believing Last Jedi could have done that much damage, Creutz writes.

Seen it, its flopping not because of itself, its marketing etc, though its a pretty meh movie.. it is failing due to the fan base pretty much being angry about the last mainline movie being so awful and deciding, we’ve had enough...
Period.
It is like a CYA statement from the DNC: We failed because we just didn’t get our message out, and not because people rejected our message.
Ha ha! Maybe it was the actual marketing and the hype about the actual content, plus the current negativity about Hollywood liberalism in general.
The Star Wars franchise has become completely SJW converged.
They’ve had all these years to try to make another movie close to as good as Empire, and it ain’t happening.
I quit going to Star Wars movies several years before I quit going to theaters altogether.

They’ll never admit it’s because of Last Jedi.
Well I enjoyed it. It was basically a space western, replete with a train robbery.
The only Star Wars that exist in my universe have Yoda as a muppet.
They can thank Mark Hamill, too, for telling half his audience he didn’t want them coming to see Star Wars.
Solo as in the box office is SO LOW.
Double down and spend more!!!
The title sucked. Should’ve called it “Millennium Falcon”.
The only “fatigue” that can be pointed to is the social justice character Lando Calrissian.
The movie itself was actually pretty good; especially compared to The Last Jedi.
They could have cast the Han Solo part better I think but I don’t know what talent pool they had to pull from.
Could just be bad timing. If it had debuted before Last Jedi then it probably would have done just fine.
Hollyweird needs to lose the SJW crap they have been feeding us. Only a tiny percent of the population identifies with it; the rest resents it. People will go out of their way to see movies for free rather than feed the SJW monster.
I will confess that the first I heard of the movie was when I heard it was bombing at the box office. So I’m at least one person marketing failed with.
This could be very bad for the brand. It reminds me of a wife who decides one day that she’s had it with her husband’s antics and simply doesn’t love him any more. Unless she has some strong religious reason for sticking it out at that point, the marriage is over.
This could destroy the relationship between the Star Wars brand and its fan base - Once and for all.
I won't see it because i'm tired of "Girl Ghostbusters in space."
Sick of the uber feminine Social Justice Warrior crap, and moral relativity.
