Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Friday that its time to discuss what the Second Amendment means in the modern world in light of last weeks mass school shooting in Parkland, Florida.
Ms. Rice, who served under President George W. Bush, said that while the Second Amendment remains indivisible, she doesnt think civilians should have access to guns like the AR-15, which was used by 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz to fatally shoot 17 students and teachers on Valentines Day.
I think it is time to have a conversation about what the right to bear arms means in the modern world, she told radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt. I dont understand why civilians need to have access to military weapons. We wouldnt say you can go out and buy a tank.

Condi should run for Chicago mayor. She surely can’t do much worse than rahm emanuel.
Dear Secretary Rice,
The Second Amendment is now more important than it has ever been.
We are at a time where law enforcement agrees not to enforce in advance and then fails to enforce as a killer signals his intent. Finally, law enforcement fails to enforce and confront a child killer acting alone when they have a four to one advantage.
Secondly, we are at a time where our media, ingrained politicians and our law enforcement conspire to subvert elections. Tyranny is not so far behind.
Third, we are at a time when the media works openly to promote a disarmed populace subject to totalitarian democracy.
Thanks for bringing this up Ms. Rice, we all need to take a good neighbor to the Range for time-on-target and make ready for possible usage of this second amendment for the purpose it was written — defending our free nation.
Goodbye, Condi. We hardly knew ye.
I don’t recall the word infringed having a new meaning
What about the First in a modern world where TV lies can inflame millions in the world
(((Ping))))
Technically it can as it is an amendment, which can be amended with another amendment. Won’t happen but it is something that could be done as outlined in the Constitution.
It means what its always meant.

So does natural born citizen and yet even here on FR we have people arguing that Anwar Al-Awlaki’s kids born in Yemen to one citizen parent are eligible to be President.
Don’t we understand she is business as usual, inside the beltway.
I still remember Rush Limbaugh’s incredulity when Condi Rice went after Israel for going after attackers from Gaza almost 15 years ago.
9/11 had just happened and he couldn’t believe that Israel was being dissed for defending itself from terrorists.
Ditto!
I just lost almost all my respect for Dr. Condoleeza Rice...
It’s time to have a discussion about standing army. Modern people have as much right to freedom from the risk of government oppression as their ancestors did.
The Founders meant that the People should be able to keep and bear the best weapons available. At that time it was a musket. Now it is a semi automatic. Of course they could not imagine this weapon -but they could not imagine electricity or automobiles or even a cotton gin.
the RIGHT of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms shall NOT be infringed
that’s what it means, Condi.
it is the clearest and most emphatic and unqualified right in our Constitution
Shut up and play your piano.
I dropped “Cubanadian” on the folks at home, and man did they howl with laughter!
I don’t know about that Condi. The guy who played Worf on StR Trek TNG actually owns a fully flying condition F86 Sabre Jet.
If I want to set my mind back in 1791, I could seriously interpret the 2nd Amendment to mean that we citizens are entitled to way more than just guns.
We are entitled to own and use all weapons that the world’s military forces use in modern warfare - field artillery, tanks, fighter jets, aircraft carriers, etc.
Obviously that isn’t gonna sell. And, we can’t afford it.
But, the way I understand it, our founding fathers wanted us to be prepared to defend ourselves with equipment just as powerful as that used by the “King’s Military”.
So, now are we just begging for a right to have the equivalent of bows and arrows in a laser warfare ray-gun world?
Unless, perhaps, our military comes over to our side. That is something to think about.
It’s amazing how weak minded are those representing us in political leadership positions.
Oh yeah - and anyone who cant realize this is an idiot. No matter their education and experience.
