Can you give me some suggestions for a good read (beside FreeRepublic)?
I've always like Tom Clancy's books and Dean Koontz.
I started using Kindle and thought I would ask you what you liked.
Thanks for your help.
I went to U of Chicago, so I have a predeliction for original sources. I’ve got a copy of Grant’s autobiography, but the books that take my head off screaming - they’re so good - are the ones by Joshua Chamberlain. I did enjoy James Longstreet’s autobiography and Anne McVicars Grant’s “Memoirs of an American Lady.” And if you like further back, Benevento Cellini’s Autobiography where he tells you the difference between country eggs and city eggs for egg tempera.
.net, sorry.
H.A. Goodman has written a series of 4 books and is working on a fifth book detailing and exposing the crimes and corruption of the DNC, HRC and DWS. You can down load them for around $3 each. I have not read them all yet, did download the first one and am currently reading it. You might want to check them out and check out his YouTube channel as well. He clarifies with the facts. Good to have for reference.
Book 1: Debunking the Trump/Russia Myth
Book 2: But Her Top Secret Emails
Book 3: But Her Secret Emails
Book 4: The Awans and Debbie Wasserman Schultz
He also wrote a GREAT book set in the 12th century called “The Walking Drum”

Loved the hero Kerbouchard!
Fools Die by Mario Puzo.
I really enjoyed The Mandibles, about how the world turns out if leftist social policy continues to 2050
Try David Weber’s Safehold series. Nine books so far. Huge cast of characters; international intrigue; spectacular battle scenes; romance; and an open ended situation.
Check out the one I mentioned in reply 62...really good.
RE: Post 141, thanks for the tip on the Joshua Chamberlain book, I’ll do a search for it. Another excellent book dealing with Civil War generals is Last in Their Class: Custer, Pickett and the Goats of West Point by James S. Robbins, (2006) who also did a bio of Custer. I’ve read a number of Custer bios over the years, also bios of Alexander the Great, they’ve all added a new spin to the life of these noteworthy figures.
Along the way the villains pass an Equalization of Opportunity bill and an Anti-Dog-Eat-Dog bill. This is amazing stuff for 1954, and today.
ML/NJ
I will never even consider another Brad Thor book following his fun exchange with that mental case Glenn Beck on live radio in 2016.
Go to Hell Thor.
The Century Trilogy was good regarding his description of the events of, and those leading up to World War 1.
He is obsessed with homosexuality and it is a factor in most of his books.
I have not finished his 3rd regarding the Kingsbridge Cathedral, but I like a lot of his stuff, though I doubt that I would like him in person. .
Darn. I should have included him. He is great!

I thought I remembered finding his original book in Google books, but all I’m finding now are new versions.
His writing is inspired, spine chilling and to be read over and over again for the beauty of the language and the goodness of his soul.
I especially remember a part when he’s marching in the final parade and leaves his men for the reviewing stand. He’s thinking how he sees so many more people than the people around him see, because he sees the ones who are now gone. The man is simply amazing.
Also in the Science-Fiction line, the Vorkosigan series, by Lois McMaster Bujold. For fantasy, the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett.
Also a big fan of historical fiction. A woman co-worker, who also likes this genre, turned me onto Sharon Kay Penman. She focuses on the Middle Ages period and everything I've read from her so far is pretty good.
Very good point...”Atlas Shrugged” is extremely good...Also “Anthem” by Ayn Rand is a very good read....
You caught my attention with the Middle Ages books talk. So I just looked up Sharon Kay Penman on Amazon and all her books have pretty good ratings and look really good. Did you co-worker recommend any special ones? Or have you read any of her books in particular you would recommend to start with?
