Queen Elizabeth II, 91, is the longest reigning monarch and allegedly held a meeting as recently as two weeks ago to begin the process.
Her Majesty is said to have decided that if she is still on the throne at the age of 95 then she will request the Regency Act to come into force.
The Regency Act would make Charles a Prince Regent and a King in all but name.
Under the Act, the Queen would remain head of state but would have reduced duties without abdicating the throne.

Charles would never where the King's crown.
...and horse woman would never be queen.
The animosity toward Charles and the horse lady adulteress is well deserved and strong.
The responses say it all.

It’s not an elected position.
Though I’m certainly no fan of Charles, he’s a nut case.

Kate is pregnant again. Just announced today. First thought I had: Handy if a son wants to help his unpopular father succeed his mother.

Charles? May his Unroyal Carbunkleness have the courage and humility to bow out in favor of William. If not, may all around him turn their backs on him.

PC Charles is totally wrong about CAGW and Islam.

I wonder if anyone knows how it would work if Charles doesn’t become king. Would it instead go to an eldest brother or sister, and from there be in possession of one of their fruitcake families? If that case could be argued, it might make sense to have “King Charles” for a few years.

Better that the Queen step down and let the butler take over.

The way things are going over there they will soon have to double check with the mulsims before making any changes.
What a sad state of affairs.

It goes through the eldest bloodline. So it would be Charles, then William, then William’s children, then Harry, then Charles oldest sibling, (then through his oldest child and his heirs and so on)

Headline doesn’t match up with the text. The story actually says that she would retain the throne and that Charles would be Prince Regent - in 2021.

I would guess that it’s ‘making plans’ in the event of severe disability. I can’t see the Queen doing this if it can possibly be avoided - not because of Charles, but because of her sense of her position and her duty.

If Charles does not become king for some reason then William becomes king.
Not very complicated.

Prince regent can not wear the King’s Crown. Ever. Which is nice.
His mare can’t be queen either.
