Sessions discussed Trump campaign-related matters with Russian Ambass., U.S. intel intercepts show

Russia’s ambassador to Washington told his superiors in Moscow that he discussed campaign-related matters, including policy issues important to Moscow, with Jeff Sessions during the 2016 presidential race, contrary to public assertions by the embattled attorney general, according to current and former U.S. officials.

Ambassador Sergey Kislyak’s accounts of two conversations with Sessions — then a top foreign policy adviser to Republican candidate Donald Trump — were intercepted by U.S. spy agencies, which monitor the communications of senior Russian officials both in the United States and in Russia. Sessions initially failed to disclose his contacts with Kislyak and then said that the meetings were not about the Trump campaign.

One U.S. official said that Sessions — who testified that he has no recollection of an April encounter — has provided “misleading” statements that are “contradicted by other evidence.” A former official said that the intelligence indicates that Sessions and Kislyak had “substantive” discussions on matters including Trump’s positions on Russia-related issues and prospects for U.S.-Russia relations in a Trump administration.

Sessions has said repeatedly that he never discussed campaign-related issues with Russian officials and that it was only in his capacity as a U.S. senator that he met with Kislyak.

“I never had meetings with Russian operatives or Russian intermediaries about the Trump campaign,” Sessions said in March when he announced that he would recuse himself from matters relating to the FBI probe of Russian interference in the election and any connections to the Trump campaign.

No...this is the treasonous Intel Deep State.

They couldn’t care less whether Sessions is there or not...this merely gives more gas to the Russian collusion bullshit. Makes it seem real and gives the also treasonous Democrat/Fascist Party and their propaganda media the ability to Demagogue the fake - fabricated story.

They are just keeping it going using the same methodology they used for their global Warming hoax. Pretty soon everyone who doesn’t “believe” that Trump and Russia colluded to screw Queen Hillary will be considered “Russia deniers”. If they succeed, I hope Russia nukes this sick perversion of a nation.

“Am I being naive, Why not?”

Because this is all part of a coordinated effort to get rid of Trump. The Republicans hate him worse than the Democrats. He stole their party, they want it back.

Officials emphasized that the information contradicting Sessions comes from U.S. intelligence on Kislyak’s communications with the Kremlin, and acknowledged that the Russian ambassador could have mischaracterized or exaggerated the nature of his interactions.

The last paragraph is the key. It’s cya.

It could also very well be the Russians leaking this info as well in a double cross.

Trump should not fire Sessions. Sessions should fire Rosenstein and hire a new deputy who would be in charge of the Special Prosecutor.

Who knows? Once Putin gets tired of Kislyak, it might be Po-209 teatime for the fat ambassador.

Robert Mueller, James Comey, and the US “Intelligence Community” are Public Enemy Number One.

We are at the Rubicon:

Are we a government of the people or are we ruled by the bureaucracy?

Our President, and our Republic, are in grave danger.

Sessions is a eunuch. I’m surprised that WAPO and the deep state want to get rid of a useless tool.

Without further information I do not see the problem. There was a campaign going on and they (maybe) talked about it? So what?

I think Trump trusted Sessions but it’s became apparent that Sessions is NOT going after the REAL criminals...dems and their operatives...and is instead content to sit back and enable the long knives to come out for Trump.

Russia’s ambassador to Washington told his superiors in Moscow that he discussed campaign-related matters, including policy issues important to Moscow, with Jeff Sessions during the 2016 presidential race, contrary to public assertions by the embattled attorney general, according to current and former U.S. officials.

Read this carefully. "Russia's ambassador to Washington told his superiors in Moscow that he discussed campaign-related matters..."

First, this is based on a communication between one Russian in Washington and another Russian in Russia who both were fully aware that their conversation was being intercepted. Was it disinformation or fact?

Second, if this is based on an electronic intercept, there is a paper trail showing who has access to it and when. There is almost no chance the White House had access and it and it is probably too early in the process for the Special Counsel to have it. It most likely came from someone in the last administration or someone currently in one of the intelligence agencies.

The important question is why it was released now in a manor creating the impression that AG Sessions lied or withheld information. The obvious answer is to bolster the growing negative narrative about Mr. Sessions and facilitate his resignation or removal from office.

Why? What would motivate someone to leak classified information which is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Is it to foster good government? Is it to help President Trump get rid of an ineffective Attorney General who he could remove if he wanted to? Is it a special counsel who wants to remove an Attorney General who has no authority over them? Or is it someone who has something to fear from Mr. Sessions remaining in office?

These are interesting times. There are people in high positions who have had a free hand for at least the last eight years and possibly the sixteen years before that. I know there are many who look on AG Sessions with contempt for being a straight arrow or for not throwing the rules out and getting down and dirty. If I was a high level individual who had violated the law and betrayed the trust of my position, the last person in the world I would want in the office of Attorney General would be that meek and mild boy scout, Jeff Sessions. He will not trade insults with you, but if he gets you, you will stay got.
