Earths magnetic field surrounds our planet like an invisible force field - protecting life from harmful solar radiation by deflecting charged particles away. Far from being constant, this field is continuously changing. Indeed, our planet's history includes at least several hundred global magnetic reversals, where north and south magnetic poles swap places. So whens the next one happening and how will it affect life on Earth?
During a reversal the magnetic field wont be zero, but will assume a weaker and more complex form. It may fall to 10 percent of the present-day strength and have magnetic poles at the equator or even the simultaneous existence of multiple 'north' and 'south' magnetic poles.
Geomagnetic reversals occur a few times every million years on average. However, the interval between reversals is very irregular and can range up to tens of millions of years. There can also be temporary and incomplete reversals, known as events and excursions, in which the magnetic poles move away from the geographic poles - perhaps even crossing the equator - before returning back to their original locations.
The last full reversal, the Brunhes-Matuyama, occurred around 780,000 years ago. A temporary reversal, the Laschamp event, occurred around 41,000 years ago. It lasted less than 1,000 years with the actual change of polarity lasting around 250 years...

In January of 2011, they renumbered the runways at Tampa airport, due to polar shift. But they haven’t convinced me that it wasn’t because of continental drift.
Don't forget the "Repent and sin no more" part.
"...???...OK,..let her rip"
The magnetosphere is falling!
The magnetosphere is falling!
The magnetosphere is falling!
The magnetosphere is falling!
I question if you are even EnglishOnly. The article contained no mention of global warming.
Oh wow, sometime in the next 220,000 years this is likely going to happen to us. Holy smokes, good think I built that bunker in the back yard with its own magnetic field generator in it!
Nah, we are totally prepared after eight years of Obama telling us that down is up and up is down ..
Just keep rolling, DannyTN, you’ll end up somewhere.
Yes, I agree with that! These are the ones who say...Islam=Good & Christianity=Bad, Homosexuality=Good & Heterosexuality=Bad, Black=Good & White=Bad, Globalism=Good and Nationalism=Bad
Will I have to buy a new compass ?
Haha!
*I’m stealing that!*
Don’t forget the “Repent and sin no more” part.

If we ‘flip’ over and enter bizarro world,
Wouldn’t that be
SIN and repent no more?
Just askin’.
My gawd! Get out the mustard and mayo and make a sandwich with it.
The scripture would seem to imply that it will happen as part of God’s judgment on the earth for abortion, homosexuality, etc. So most likely not 220,000 years from now, but very soon given that the rebirth of Israel is the main sign of Jesus Christ’s soon coming!
cute!! lol
“Dont you think it is interesting that the Bible foretells that the earth will flip upside down?”
Based on the behavior of most of the people on the planet in the last how many years, it seems like it already has. The scripture here might not be so much a literal, but a symbolic or metaphorical description of the depravity and rebelliousness of mankind (oops, politically incorrect term). Or it could be both literal, describing an actual series of events, and metaphorical, describing the depravity of rebellious humanity at various times.
That said, the magnetic field flipping phobia comes around again and again and so far, we’re still here!
LOL. I do enjoy Bizarro.
I AM glad though that I don't know him, am not related to him or that he's not my next door neighbor.
Do you think that Satan ever laughs?
LOVE the photo. It is SO VERY CAT.
Couple of books: "The HAB Theory". It's a novel based on a work by Hugh Auchincloss Brown in a 1967 book titled "Cataclysms of the Earth". "Earth's Shifting Crust" by Charles Happgood is what I'm reading now.
The basic theory of these is that every so often the entire earth either tilts or the crust shifts and slides over the mantle. It's quite an elegant theory especially as proposed in the book by Happgood. I'm not convinced of the validity but it's an interesting thing to read, study and pray about.
The claim of an imminent poll shift has been made for decades
