It almost sounds Trump has made a prior deal with Romney. No telling what the payoff was. But even so agreements can be renegotiated.
From what I can tell an apology from Romney will settle things down a bit with many of Trumps supporters but the feeling I am getting as I read what people say it will not remedy the original problem they had with Romney. Be it an Evangelical Mormon thing or the feeling he is not a true conservative, whatever it may be and whether it is right or wrong this pick will cause a drop off in support for Trump. Whether it is temporary or permanent depends on Trump keeping many of his campaign promises.
I have to wonder why Trump is willing to spend some of his political capital on Romney, normally party unification is done before an election, but hopefully there is a good reason for it.
So far his choices have not overly upset or are acceptable to his supporters. If Romney was given a lesser role in the cabinet he may be acceptable as well. For me I still see Bob Corker the best available candidate for the position.
This is the deal they made: If Romney fully backed Trump after he got the nomination; when Trump won and was sworn in as president, he would then resign and appoint Romney as his successor and new president.
I like Bobby.
Huck is an interesting mention. He is certainly loyal. He has loads of charm. A strong defender of traditional American values.
The SOS doesn’t have to be the bully this time around. Our “Bully” will reside in the White House. He needs to be persuasive.
Am I now lobbying for Huck? lol
No one is going to be perfect. Solid advice and loyalty are what President Trump will need.
He spent valuable time building his nine car garage
And folded like a cheap deck chair instead of attacking Obama.
Complete Milquetoast....unfit for use.
Being a diplomat is not .. being Mr. Nice Guy .. it’s being the person who tells another country .. The President said NO! It’s not your decision .. it’s following orders of the President.
I agree with the opinion that I would be a question of whether Romney would do as the President has instructed, or do his own thing ..?? And .. this really bothers me.
However, I’m also wondering whether PE Trump would FIRE Romney if he disobeyed his instructions ..??
I’m just hoping a great deal of consideration is given to this State Dept choice; and should it be someone else entirely.
What kind of deal includes call me horrible names and make slanderous comments about me?
That’s so Cra Cra even tin foil doesn’t help
True that
And from our own side
Lets hope he doesn’t have an affair during his tenure. He’s not so good with women and secrets
Republicans have failed miserably because they kept nominating horrible candidates who could not win. None of them could hold 200 rallies with 10,000-20,000-30,000 at each rally. I attended one myself, in liberal Washington state, and was amazed at the raucous enthusiasm and love people were showing for this candidate. That was 3 months ago, and I sensed at that time that this candidate was going to become POTUS.
Good Grief....NO!
Whenever a headline asks a yes/no question, the answer is always no.
:( :( you make sense but why Sec of State? :( wished it were something lower.
Romney deserves nothing.....I think this is Fake MSM news.
No - and all the “concern trolls” that think Trump is naive enough to sabotage his agenda and doesn’t deserve our trust at this time are not much different than those harassing the Electors or crying for a recount. The man has earned our trust until such time as it becomes obvious he doesn’t deserve it.
WHHHHAATTT???
Very apparent Romney and Trump spoke regularly throughout the campaign.
Quit making things up and acting like it is a done deal.
Just cut the crap. Some folks around here are acting like the MSM.
Thank you.
Did Trump and Romney also both agree to wear a red tie last Tuesday? This is BS. Why post it.
POLL TO FREEP

My recommendation for Romney? Put him in charge to fix the VA. That is his best expertise, to fix broken outfits. He did good job with failing Olympics and saved several failing corporations.
Good idea but he won’t accept. It is probably too low of a position for someone who used to be a presidential contender.
