Shocking new pictures of the filthy waters in Rio have revealed yet more concerns for Olympic athletes in Brazil who have been told not to put their heads under water. Ganabara Bay will host the triathlon, sailing and some swimming events at the Games and last week a floating corpse and a severed arm were found floating in the water. A study has shown viral levels in the bay is up to 1.7 million times what would be considered worrisome in the United States or Europe.

Those awarding Brazil the Olympics should have to go for a swim down there themselves. Absolutely disgusting.

IMHO Olympic venues should be permanantly established by sport.
For example, Australia for swimming, US for Track and Field. Europe for soccer. Fencing in South America. Opening Ceremony in Greece. Some you can rotate, one cycle basketball to Russia, then the US.
Permenant venues, no bids. Saves money. Eleminates the current corupt system.

I remember a while ago a proposal to simply have have the Olympics IN ONE PLACE, every time. The proposal was Greece, and while I don’t have much good to say about the country, it certainly beats rolling through THIRD WORLD countries. It simply isn’t fair to the athletes to have to go to such inhumane, pathetic, dumps.
That occurred at the leper hockey game.

A bit off-topic but I’m kind of curious about the bridge in the one picture which looks like the mannequin leg lamp in the movie “A Christmas Story.” What tasteless designer dreamed up that bridge?
And they will spend millions to show this crap. How low can humanity go. The place is a real s$it hole.
I can't sit in judgment of the athletes either... but the Olympic Committee should be held accountable for this horrible choice.
