Ted Cruz and his allies are preparing for the coming National GOP Convention. According to NBC News, Cruz who recently attended a GOP convention in Texas told his supporters that the days ahead will be "challenging" for the Republican Party. He, however, expressed hope that those who remain loyal to him and the party "will be the remnant, will be the core of pulling this country back from the abyss."
Aside from this pronouncement, [he] has remained mum about whether he will throw his support for presumptive nominee Donald Trump. According to the NBC report, the support of Cruz and his allies in Texas is needed by Trump if he is squaring off with Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton for the presidential elections. A Texan party elder, Steve Munisteri said that "Ted Cruz has led a national movement, a conservative movement. We certainly need solid conservatives to be behind our nominee [Trump.]"
... Cruz and his allies in the Republican Party are EYEING TO CONTINUE THEIR FIGHT TO RUN THE PARTY. Despite his failure to win over Trump, ... he is still hoping that when he attends the National Convention,... he will be able to bring about key changes in how the party governs itself and picks its presidential nominee. Aside from changes in rules, the party will also be working out its "official policy platform" as well as "determine how much power the RNC has to make new rules of its own."
>>The key discussion points, which will also be the likely flash points during the convention, will include CLOSED PRIMARIES. THIS MEANS DOING AWAY WITH OPEN PRIMARIES AND THE "CONSCIENCE CLAUSE," which will RELEASE CONSERVATIVE DELEGATES FROM SUPPORTING THE PRESUMPTIVE DELEGATE, should that delegate represent views that contradict theirs or the party.

So Ted Cruz voting with the 98 against the 1 for the Corker Bill took courage?
Standing in a group of traitors as a traitor took courage?
If Cruz is like Bush i.e. doesn't need Republican voters, country without borders, pro common core global warmist, you are right. I don't get it. He has me fooled.
If he is pro Obamacare like Kasich, again, I have failed to see it.
If Cruz is really a stealth voter for big government i.e. everything obama and clinton believe, he has really pulled the wool over my eyes.
No longer does any of this matter. He isn't getting nominated for anything.
I don't know what his Senate plans are. The boys and girls in Texas will need to decide that outcome if Cruz chooses to run again.
I don't believe I've used that term in referring to Cruz, but there's no doubt that I'm not the only member of this community to have lost some respect for Senator Cruz.
I take little no joy in criticizing Ted Cruz, but I'm afraid that his bad behavior (as judged by so many of his former supporters such as myself) is not merely a mass hallucination.
Are you honestly saying that you think Cruz should have no regrets? Because most of us who switched our support to Donald Trump were appalled at some of the things Cruz said.
While Donald Trump is non-PC, crass, and vulgar on some occasions, his overall character, IMHO, outshone Ted Cruz's, and that's ultimately the reason Trump's our nominee, IMHO.
Whether Cruz was playing the race card by piling on during a hateful Media/GOPe smear on Donald Trump (the David Duke endorsement hoax), or giving only a lip service rebuke to the criminal thugs that forced the cancellation of the Chicago rally, (followed by a diatribe against Trump), or simply blatantly lying about "mischaracterizing" Donald Trump's policy positions, many FReepers were expecting much more from Ted Cruz.
I'm not going to rehash the entire last 6 months of campaigning, but suffice it to say that Ted Cruz made several mistakes during his campaign, in addition to exposing some significant character flaws, such as exposing himself as a naked opportunist.
Ted Cruz lost fair and square. He made a pledge to support the eventual nominee, no matter who it might be. He needs to honor that pledge, instead of acting like Jeb Bush.
I hope Ted Cruz tries to rehabilitate himself with the GOP electorate, because if he doesn't, it'll finish off his political career in addition to helping Hillary.
I think Cruz needs to do some honest reflection on his behavior...
Vote Trump!
Hear, hear!
“I was thinking because the people of Texas voted for him, he would be responsible of the people of Texas...”
I don’t disagree, but the only way for us Texans to rid ourselves of him (barring impeachment), is to vote him out in 2018.

Rafael won't be eligible in four or eight years.
At the rate he’s going, he’ll hit it in 3...2...1
What a selfish little man. Someone needs to cut the strings that are attached to him - chamber of commerce? Jeb? His daddy? I can’t even list all the big money bags that were (are) behind this garbage.
Sorry teddy, you aren’t the annointed one nor are you the chosen one.
HONOR YOUR DAMN PLEDGE! Christian my a**

>It would have worked, too, if not for his bad luck of trying it the same year as some guy named Trump.
It wouldn’t have worked. The media went easy on Cruz once he was the only chance against Trump. They overlooked so many easy smears and attacked Trump with all thier might. Compare the way Megan Kelly treated Cruz and Trump for reference. If Cruz won the nomination they would have branded him a religious nut case with plenty of video from his father and Glenn Beck and he would have gone down in flames. The same would have happened if he became a threat to Jeb. Cruz or Rubio was desinged to be Jeb’s “Conservative” running mate to suck up the base why Jeb ran against the base.
Cruz never had any chance of at the whitehouse.
Around 20 states have chosen open primaries and that is their choice and their right. It saves a great deal of paperwork since multi millions are not forced to change their registrations ahead of a vote.
I’ve read that After being cheated very badly in the past two election cycles, thousands of Colorado republicans dumped their R cards for I cards. Lots of people are fed up with the party and I have no problem with including them in the choice. Without their vote in November, we lose.
Republicans are outnumbered in many key states. We need the Independent vote to win elections. <—reality check.
I’d take an open primary over a crooked caucus. Caucuses are absurd archaic opportunities to cheat. They exclude a great deal of voters and place the decision in the hands of a few party operatives.
He's turning into a cabal with a small core of supporters that cannot win anything by the rules he so vaunted when they appeared to be working in his favor.
He's officially dead to me.
LOL...
We need to return our Republic to the ideals of liberty (AKA: conservatism) in the same manner the socialists diminished it.
Step by step.
Trump appears to be Step 1?
Cruznadians are still not realizing how unelectable Cruz is to the majority of the voters. We need much more than a candidate who appeals to conservative evangelicals in prairie states in order to win. They fail to look at the big picture. And we just had 50,000 more vote for him & Kasich last night in Oregon.
You are correct: “media went easy on Cruz .. overlooked so many easy smears and attacked Trump with all their might....note Megan Kelly’s treatment Cruz vs. Trump. If Cruz won, they would have branded him a religious nut case with video from his father & Glenn Beck. <-yep. He would have been so, so easy to relegate a fanatic. He would have gone down in flames. Cruz or Rubio were designed to be Jebs Conservative running mate to suck up the base, while Jeb ran against the base.”
And either one would have been sucking up to Jeb for the VP position.
Cruz never had any chance of at the WH, plus they can disqualify him in a heartbeat.
Without all the hundreds of millions of dollars, he would have been long gone by Super Tuesday. These PACs are ridiculous and are completely unrepresentative of the people.
So he can’t yet figure out why he lost. Well Cruz just look in the mirror, It’s YOU!
