If you've felt your blood pressure rise after seeing passengers being served champagne on the tarmac while you're fighting for overhead space in coach, you are not alone.
A new study finds that class division in the skies can have a real and occasionally dangerous effect on passengers in both sections of a plane.
And when economy-class passengers are forced to pass through the luxurious first-class area on their way to the cramped economy seats, the rate of air rage incidents is more than seven times higher than if there were no first-class seats at all. Researchers report that the simple presence of a first-class cabin on an airplane is correlated with a nearly fourfold increase in the chance of an air rage incident in economy class.

When coach passes by I usually say moooo I don’t know if this hurts or helps
If your taking 2 bags, that's $25 for the first bag, $35 for the second. That's $60 each way. $120 round trip. There are no baggage fees in First.
Currently, r/t Coach, Chicago-Denver (2-1/2 hours), on United is $377 to as high as $1000 (most are in the $377-$550 range)
Same time frame, First class is $471 on up (most in the $471 -$750 range)
Often times it is almost a draw between the two.
“They locked the poor below, so they’d be the first to go.
And it was sad when the great ship went down.”
Here's an example
Pardon me, but I thought first class was open to anyone willing to pay for it? Oh, it’s just not fair that these people have more money.
Be sure to remind those flying on business to bring that bag of peanuts bask to the office. It’s company property.
Makes sense.
We’re all born equal (naked), what happens after that is our own doing.
When I was in the military, I once bought round trip first class tickets to go home on leave. But it turned out the last leg of the journey was on a Braniff DC-3, which had no first class cabin. So the stewardess came and sat with me on takeoff and landing, served me the little airline snacks first, and spent time chatting with me during the flight. Best. First. Class. Ever.
I recently had the opportunity to fly in the first class section.
First class on a Dreamliner from Houston to Frisco, That was really cool, then First Business class from Frisco To Beijing.
It was a great way to travel, 13 hours in coach would have left me basically crippled.
Couldn’t afford it personally, but it was actually an enjoyable flight for a change.
No, I would say the opposite if the door was at the rear. It seems like the fastest way to board a plane would be to board those who have to travel the farthest to their seats first and then move back from there, as that then minimizes how many people have to wait in the aisle while someone else puts their stuff in the overhead bin, lets someone into the middle and window seats, etc.
The fact is, most people flying first class domestically are rewarded those tickets for being frequent fliers. That just means they live on airplanes several days per week.
Yeah my step mother does between 75000 to 100000 miles a year for her job.
It is the reason she is thinking about early retirement, she just cant handle the time gone anymore.
I don’t envy her at all.
I will stick with my every two years to China.
I live a half hour from the airport. I'm home while the last row is just getting off the plane.
That’s assuming you have a truly free market in an industry that is extremely difficult to enter.
In reality, prices are fixed in backroom deals and they all collude to squeeze in as much cattle per car as they can.
That’s the essence of crony capitalism: why compete and race to the bottom for profits when a few big cheeses can collude and fleece everyone for even MORE? And if someone new tries to undercut you, your friends in government will put a few wrenches in their business plan...
I had forgotten that. One of the Boeings may be that way, as well - 767?
