A fierce debate has broken out among Donald Trumps family, friends and campaign advisers over how to respond to the Republican establishments last-ditch effort to deny him the presidential nomination.
Trumps confidants are split over how to handle the sudden onslaught, with some saying he should become more presidential.
But according to a high-ranking member of Trumps inner circle, Trump is ignoring this advice and listening to his own inner Donald.
The debate broke out after Mitt Romney viciously attacked Trump as a phony and fraud during a speech Romney delivered at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City earlier this month.
Heated disagreement inside the campaign intensified when the race began to tighten and a group of mega-rich donors started pouring millions of dollars into anti-Trump TV commercials in Florida, which holds a do-or-die primary on March 15.
Members of this establishmenta good old boy network of donors, elected officials, local and state party officials, pollsters, advisers, and conservative pooh-bahsare desperate to prevent Trump from winning the 1,237 delegates needed to claim the GOP nomination.
They want to throw the nomination onto the floor of a contested convention in July, where they can pick a candidate more acceptable to them.
Some of Trumps advisers have urged him to stop acting like an Alpha dog, drop the narcissistic me-me-me, and start talking about substance and policy.
Others are urging him to reach into his pockets and invest millions of his own money in TV commercials to answer the establishments negative ads.
Donald Trump makes a point.
But according to the source, Trump thinks he knows better.
He intends to continue with the strategy that has worked for him up to now, says the source. Hes going to rely on Twitter, Facebook and large campaign rallies, and he has no intention of pouring many millions into TV commercials.
As for becoming more presidential, this source continued, let me quote Donald and youll get the gist. He says, and I quote, I dont want to be a jerk. I have to do what I have to do. If people attack me, Im going to attack them even harder and theyll live to regret it.
That's a good point.
At this point would be too late to change anyway. Seems people love Trump or hate Trump, I don't know anyone who is neutral.
...and when Obummer gives folks the middle finger the MSM snickers and asks why we can’t take a joke...GO TRUMP
Lol! I love the picture of Glenn Beck.
I don’t want Bush or other elitist people. I want someone who can fight. We have too many problems right now to be concerned with this looking Presidential crap.
Only the thin skinned and the easily insulted liberals take offence thus far.
There is a lot of talk about whatever Trump tries to do if(when) he is elected president will be thwarted by a combined Uniparty Congress...That means nothing gets done and we are at a standstill as a country...
My guess is the Congress has no idea what will hit them if they start things like this...Not only do they not really know how to handle Trump, but the American people will be shown clearly by Trump what is happening...Trump will not roll over like a professional politician would...he will buck back...And, I believe, so will the American people....
Remember Clinton wearing a black Afro wig
Remember 41 tossing his cookies on the Japanese
Remember 43 making that ‘Major League’ Remark
Remember Carter chased by a mad rabbit
Remember LBJ showing his surgery scars
Remember JFK and ‘Happy Birthday’
Way too late for that.
“The only person who can beat Donald is Donald.”
He’s not as orange as he was...soooo...he’s got that going for him. What was up with that?
There is a difference in you and the LIV.
He’s so fair. I bet he turns bright pink after 15 minutes in the sun. Probably some “artificial suntan” mix. I remember mine being orangy.
Absolutely not! GWB was very presidential and he didn’t look down on others.
Let Trump be Trump!
GO TRUMP!!
The real Donald, the Man, not a fake nice p**** appeals to me:-)
Let’s trot this one out again. Will the narrative stick? Do you get tired of all the focus group testing?
Yes. See how he is going up in the polls? He has hit his ceiling and heading down.
LMAO you are as crazy as Cruz....but you just keep drinking that ‘Kool-Aid’ missy, you drink a gallon a day....
Well we will see. If true, a big mistake but given Town Halls record this primary season, I doubt they have any real contact with anyone in the Trump camp.
He is doing fine.
He is right. Americans’ sense of fair play is turning on its head. He is winning a great deal of voters with the endless pile on who think it is nasty and unfair.
Wonder why regular Americans don’t participate in political office? See Trump.
