Spud-only diet a mash hit for Mr Potato Head
An Australian man who plans to eat nothing but potatoes for an entire year said Tuesday that despite his strange diet he was not only feeling better, but surprisingly enjoying his meals.
Unlike Matt Damon's character in "The Martian", who is stranded on the Red Planet with little else to eat, Andrew Taylor, 35, made a deliberate decision to eat only the starchy staple for 12 months, to break what he termed his "food addiction".
While addicts can go "cold turkey" on their vice, such as alcohol or cigarettes, it is impossible to do so with food, so Taylor settled on making his diet as boring as possible.
"The next best thing was to find one thing that sustained me healthily," he told AFP, saying that besides potatoes, he also considered mangoes, bananas and watermelon.
As a low carb aficionado, I feel bloated just reading this story...
How’s he getting protein?
This year I started eating bananas for breakfast again.
I recommend it!
“Hopefully he lives in Idaho.”
Just west of where I live is Manhattan, MT.
They grow seed potatoes. Good tasting potatoes.
In August there are rows and rows of empty semi trucks waiting to get their fill of Montana potatoes.
All these trucks have Idaho license plates...
"At Cambridge University, his horror of being fat led to a shockingly strict diet, partly to get thin and partly to keep his mind sharp. Existing on biscuits and soda water or potatoes drenched in vinegar..."
Sweet!!
Idaho, Udajohn
Look what I pulled outta my ass this morning!!
That’s funny. Montana potatoes. Sounds yummy.
In college I would have starved had not my fraternity brothers and I found many tasty ways to prepare potatoes, which we bought by the ten pound bag fulls.
From a nutrition standpoint, it is an excellent choice.
Baked, broiled, boiled, fried, skins on or off, yummy, yummy.
There’s about 4 grams of protein in a potato, you need 50 grams to maintain your health.
Heck, he could cover the whole thing with ketchup. Ketchup on everything. :)
Same here. While attending college in Los Angeles I lived on potatoes, beans, rice, eggs, and top ramen. Once a month (if I had any money), I would have a steak at Jack’s Steak House in Hollyweird.
A sculpture celebrating the life and charitable work of a Cambridge (UK) "eccentric" has been installed.
The Snowy Farr memorial was created in recognition of the £125,000 he raised for charities for the blind.
"Snowy", whose real name was Walter Farr, entertained shoppers by busking, accompanied by mice and a cat which sat on his top hat. He died penniless in 2007, aged 89.
In all fairness to Dan, he was given the cards with the spelling of the words that were asked in that spelling bee by one of the school teachers.....Given the venue, he wasn't in a position to question what was on the cards.
Another case where the MSM unfairly excoriated a member of our party for something he had nothing to do with...........Jack Wilson immediately comes to mind.

I saw that photo some time back and I thought he was showing off his new and improved jaw implants
