Donald Trump on Monday defended his decision to support Bill Clinton when the former president faced allegations of sexual misconduct in the 1990s, but at the same time said Clinton is "one of the great women abusers of all time."
"Why do you call him one of the great women abusers of all time when you've said that the impeachment process against him didn't make sense, Monica Lewinsky didn't make sense?" CNN's Chris Cuomo asked.
"I had to, I was on their side," Trump replied. "Again, Chris, as a businessman I got along with everybody. So it was always important to defend people when I was, it was important for me to get along with the Clintons -"
"But it sounds like your morality shifts based on your motivation," Cuomo interrupted.
"[W]hen I was a businessman, they said I was a great businessman, a world-class businessman," Trump said. "I got along with Clinton, I got along with everybody. I got along with Harry Reid. I got along with everybody."
The billionaire businessman said it was important for him to rush to Hillary Clinton's side because he "needed votes for things," but added that he decided to criticize the Clintons after Hillary Clinton called him a sexist.
Trump argued that he no longer cares about Monica Lewinsky, the White House intern with whom Bill Clinton had a sexual relationship. But he added, "I think that Hillary was an enabler and a lot of things happened that were obviously very seedy." The former reality television star ranks second in the Washington Examiner's newest GOP presidential power rankings.
The important thing to me is that's now he's taking them on.
It's been said that a Conservative is a Liberal who's been mugged.
Maybe Trump is tired of being mugged.
Maybe.
Reagan believed in the Democrat party when it was the party of the "working man." When they went commie, he switched parties. Unlike Trump, he didn't cynically support BOTH parties for 20 years, until he decided to run for president.
Please see my more lengthy response to your very intelligent question. It’s earlier in the thread—can’t remember what number it was.
You have a very valid and truthful point. My response earlier in the thread answers this. :)
We don’t see this issue the same way...
Do you really believe Trump thinks it’s OK for illegals to flood into the country?
Or that it’s OK with him the way vets are treated?
What part of what he’s saying (exactly) do you think he doesn’t mean?
Reagan was a union organizer... he knew what democrats were when he WAS a democrat. The same stuff being said about Trump today was said about Reagan back then... even down to calling him a clown. And a grade B actor...
"Reagan was twice elected as President of the Screen Actors Guild, the labor union for actors, where he worked to root out Communist influence. "And Reagan didn't cynically donate to both parties.
As you can see from the link article below - Reagan was elected six times to the Screen Actors Guild. He was a democrat all those years... a union leader.
Reagan LEFT the democrat party in the early 60’s... then became a ‘viable (Republican) candidate in 1964’. The time between ‘early 1960’s and 1964 is NOT that long a time period. Certainly NOT decades.

Reagan had some experience with campaigns in 1966. He had been a union leader as an actor, and he was elected six times to head the Screen Actors Guild.
The former Hollywood actor became active in the Republican Party in California after leaving the Democratic Party in the early 1960s.
Reagan also became a viable political candidate after making a landmark political campaign speech in 1964 on national television supporting the GOP presidential candidate, Barry Goldwater.
Two election cycles that gave us Obama pretty much inoculated me.
During the late 1940s, Reagan and his wife provided the FBI with names of actors within the motion picture industry whom they believed to be communist sympathizers, though he expressed reservations; he said "Do they expect us to constitute ourselves as a little FBI of our own and determine just who is a Commie and who isn't?".[42]Reagan testified before the House Un-American Activities Committee on the subject as well.[43] A fervent anti-communist, he reaffirmed his commitment to democratic principles, stating, "I never as a citizen want to see our country become urged, by either fear or resentment of this group, that we ever compromise with any of our democratic principles through that fear or resentment."[43]
The Democrap party left him.
So, you refuse to address the facts that GOPJ has presented?
Care to explain Cruz working with Ryan to help pass TPA in the Senate and Cruz’s support for H1B Visas?
Trump has been a private citizen is entire life, Cruz is a sitting member of the U.S. Senate. The double standard you folks use is an amazing thing to behold.
Clarification on my comment:
‘Care to explain Cruz working with Ryan to help pass TPA in the Senate...’
____________________________________
Cruz and Ryan wrote an op-ed to help garner support for TPA in both the House and Senate.
It was also very telling that Obama’s strong support for TPA/TAA/TPP wasn’t a red flag for Cruz of how bad these things actually were. Strange indeed.
I already did. Maybe you missed it.
Remember how Jesse Jackson would shake down companies for cash for his projects? Do you really think most of those companies were backing Jackson's brand of ‘civil rights’ or that they didn't want to fight him and Jackson's white liberal elite ‘friends’ in the press?
If you guessed what Jackson was doing was a shakedown you were right.
Businessmen must PAY to get someone to pick up the phone when they call. It's a shakedown. Congress wrote the rules so it would be OK for all sorts of ways for companies and countries to give them money.
It's one of the reforms Trump is running on... Trump KNOWS how politicians get bought - BECAUSE HE'S BOUGHT SOME... That's why he won't accept money from large donors... he 'gets' what's going on....
Thanks Artcore... nice to have you here.
This would be called "cowardice."
We know from history that boards of directors usually capitulate.
In this case we know exactly who capitulated, over and over, for 20 years.
Every company I’ve ever heard of does the same thing... gives to both parties. I can assure you - they don’t like it either.
"Yes Mrs. Clinton! How much Mrs. Clinton? Are you sure this is enough to keep the IRS away from my accounts, Mrs. Clinton?"
Yep, that's the guy to stand up and shut down the system.
