Trump Defends Support for Clinton, Adds He's one of the Great Women Abusers of All Time
Washinton Examiner ^ | 1/4/2016 | Ryan Lovelace

Donald Trump on Monday defended his decision to support Bill Clinton when the former president faced allegations of sexual misconduct in the 1990s, but at the same time said Clinton is "one of the great women abusers of all time."

"Why do you call him one of the great women abusers of all time when you've said that the impeachment process against him didn't make sense, Monica Lewinsky didn't make sense?" CNN's Chris Cuomo asked.

"I had to, I was on their side," Trump replied. "Again, Chris, as a businessman I got along with everybody. So it was always important to defend people when I was, it was important for me to get along with the Clintons -"

"But it sounds like your morality shifts based on your motivation," Cuomo interrupted.

"[W]hen I was a businessman, they said I was a great businessman, a world-class businessman," Trump said. "I got along with Clinton, I got along with everybody. I got along with Harry Reid. I got along with everybody."

The billionaire businessman said it was important for him to rush to Hillary Clinton's side because he "needed votes for things," but added that he decided to criticize the Clintons after Hillary Clinton called him a sexist.

Trump argued that he no longer cares about Monica Lewinsky, the White House intern with whom Bill Clinton had a sexual relationship. But he added, "I think that Hillary was an enabler and a lot of things happened that were obviously very seedy." The former reality television star ranks second in the Washington Examiner's newest GOP presidential power rankings.

Trump has always based his positions on what is best for Trump. That is not going to change. He will play along to get along with the same characters he has always pandered to if he becomes President.

That right there is what scares me about DT. He has a past with “them”.

Well, I guess that makes it OK then...

"it was important for me to get along with the Clintons"

So, if elected, I guess you'll make sure you get along with the RATS, then, too.

And you just told us - as though we didn't already know - that what you say is NOT necessarily what you mean. It's a political game. You PRETEND to be a true conservative, because you're a "businessman," and you want true conservatives to vote for you. And you will betray them as soon as you win the primary.

This is an Un-man.

So, Trump changes his morality based on his self interest. I hope Trump supporters will follow this logic through to its logical conclusion.

If Trump was willing to say things in the past that he didn’t believe because it was in his self interest. Then just maybe he doesn’t believe a lot of what he is saying now - it just is in his self interest to appeal to populists in order to pull enough votes to win the nomination.

However, if Trump becomes the nominee, let alone the president, it will start to be in his self interest to abandon his current positions and evolve to the left.

That’s why I’ve referred to Trump as a windsock.

His position is whatever way the wind blows and keeps him inflated.

The only way to comfortably support Trump is to ignore his history of relationships with the establishment Democrats, while at the same time relying on blind faith that somehow after 70 years of putting his own self interest first, he’s going to suddenly start looking out for the country.

If he openly says that in the past he has said things he didn’t believe because he needed to get support from the Clintons, how can you be sure that he isn’t saying things he doesn’t believe now to win support from you.

I may not like the reality of what he’s saying, but I do like the frankness on his part.

And you don’t think that running for the Republican nomination is business for him? At the moment it is in his self interest to sound conservative. However, given that he changes his public positions based on his self interest, do you really think that he will stay a conservative when it becomes in his best interest to swing to the left and attract the support of moderates in the general election.

Yeah, Trump should have got in their faces, like the Bundys in Nevada, and the Hammonds in Oregon.

How is that working out for them?

These are the realities of a tyrannical regulatory gruberment.

Trump has now got enough FU money to state all this openly.

Does Donald Trump think Bill Clinton was impeached for sex with an intern?

You are absolutely right. And I do understand this problem with Mr. Trump. But it doesn’t change my support of him. You see I left the Republican Party about 3 years ago because it lacked people willing to represent me as a conservative. I let this party know my decision for leaving as well as my Congressional folks.

Since leaving the party, it’s gone downhill in it’s support of its base. There is nothing any of these men or women say that I believe is trustworthy. There is no conservatism. And I’m tired of being insulted whenever I open my mouth about immigration etc.,

So Donald Trump comes along. He is far from perfect, but he is a man who will fight. He is self-funding his campaign. He is telling me that he is working for the people, not lobbyists. So far he’s not lied to me that I know of, the Republican Party has continuously. He has not betrayed me. The Republican Party has continuously. He is promising sound ideas for getting this nation back on track. What difference does it make if any other GOPe is making the same arguments; they lie like dogs.

I’m a Donald Trump supporter cause he’s a winner. I think if he wins Iowa, he’ll run the table. I also see him picking up at least NY in the General along with all the purple states and Ohio. Sadly, I can’t see Ted Cruz doing that; although, I do heartily support Ted Cruz and hope to see him as Trump’s VP. :)

In addition to the Discussion on Donald Trump, he is managing a very Jacksonian type of aura and it is working for him. There is a need for him at this point in history. I do believe that. And as far as I’m concerned, you can thank both Obama and the Republican Party for his rise.

In closing, I’m past the Republican Party. I’m over it. They have lost me. And if they continue going down this same road, I do believe they will go the way of the Wig Party.
