Author Gabriel Sherman went on with Steve Malzberg on NewsMax TV Thursday.
Sherman wrote The Loudest Voice in the Room in 2014 on FOX News President Roger Ailes. Today he told Malzberg that Megyn Kelly wants to go mainstream and is keeping her options open.
From the interview:
Gabriel Sherman: In the days after the debate all of the emails and messages that FOX News was getting from their viewers were pro-Trump emails. Roger Ailes and his executives at FOX were shocked at the volume of the response. And, they really didnt know what to do because their audience loves Trump. And yet FOX by all measures really hammered him. So they were sort of treating him with kid gloves until this interview when he came forward and questioned her vacation. Thats when they released a statement and compared him to conspiracy theories Roger Ailes has never really faced an adversary like Donald Trump. Donald Trump doesnt play by his rules so Ailes does not know what to do. This week he decided to come out and hit him
Steve Malzberg: You also talk about in this piece the conspiracy theories that this is all setting up down the road the big Megyn Kelly Donald Trump sit-down. And this is somehow being, if not coordinated, discussed by Ailes and Trump Why is Megyn Kelly not firing back at this point?
Gabriel Sherman: Well, she, up until this point, was the fastest rising star at FOX News. She was really becoming the face of the network. And, I dont think she wants to get down in the weeds and the gutter and play this kind of hardball politics.
Steve Malzberg: Because shell lose.
Gabriel Sherman: Or, she wants to, part of this is she wants to go mainstream. There was some talk before her most recent contract that she was flirting with CNN to kind of jump from FOX to CNN. And, I think she wants to leave all options on the table. If she gets down in the weeds and slugs it out with Trump that will hurt her brand.

In the end, it is all about the fame and money for them. I don’t watch her now; I won’t watch her at CNN or “wherever”.
In the photo of the Big Three at the top...
Mike Wallace’s unlikeable son is not used to successfully faking any kind of smile.
Kelly’s talents are fading fast.
Bret looks like a snake.
Good, The snarky little b-word will fit right in with ABCNBCCBSMSNBCCNNETC
You probably get paid more as a leftist anchor on the other leftist channels
Looks like her investment in hair products and makeup will pay off for her.
Weird thing is, Fox has been merciless in the bashing. I fail to see where there was any “kid gloves” applied. I even turned on Shepard Smith not too long ago to hear him say straight out “[Trump] lied” supposedly about how many people were at an event. Reminded me of the Herman Cain days where that effeminate homo sat there explaining to the audience in a “news” segment that Cain was crazy.
You do not strike the king w/o the intent to kill him. BabyCakes took her best shot and left Ailes to deal with him. She will have to move on.
She's probably trying to go to a broadcast network. If she goes to any other cable news network she'll be going smallstream.
Thought Fox News already went ‘mainstream’? They have been using the same mainstream/leftist media model to attack anyone who is not a GOPe and or a RINO worshiper.
CNN, oh gee I was watching that if anything and now maybe no Fox News or CNN.
Pretty soon all my news will be only the Internet and my TV news will be TMZ.
If she actually has a job offer I believe it would be stated as so.
I’m sorta hoping she’s political poison, that no one wants her. But she is well qualified to be a full lefty journalist.
If she wants to go “mainstream” she apparently has been planning it for a while and it would explain her out-of-left-field assault on Trump.
She wants to marginalize herself further by going . . . “mainstream.” Fine.
She will bring down the gained ratings by CNN after her debate performance.
She will be the carrier of negative ratings where ever she goes. From that debate on she is nothing but a burning piece of coal to all networks looking for ratings.
CNN is mainstream but Fox is not???
WTF? cnn mainstream?
Comparing cnn to FOX and calling them mainstream is like comparing an old man pissen in the wind to a firehose at beer barrel battle.
We’ve been cable-free for nearly two years now and I’d forgotten about Shep. Thanks for the flashback. =/
Maybe she and Rosie can start their own show.
A woman of her talents has a bright future in the "entertainment" business ...
