After viewing this list of what could have gotten you admitted to West Virginia’s Hospital for the Insane (Weston) aka Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum back in the late-1800s, I’ve swiftly concluded that the criteria was rather all-encompassing. Who among us is a stranger to what’s on this list?
In this century, it looks more like a “wish list” for Dr. Phil’s guest bookers!
Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum is still open, but only for tours.
Actually back in the 1800's it wasn't at all uncommon. Even in the early to mid 20th century it wasn't too uncommon either.
If someone hasn't been around horses and doesn't really understand horses it's best to stay away from them
Especially the hind (back) end.
Lock up all FReepers :)
If you have ever had a family member who suffered from mental health issues, you could not agree more with that statement.
You do your best to help them but you run smack into the wall of HIPAA. The therapist cannot legally tell the family anything unless the patient signs a release (which often as not they won’t because, here’s a news flash...THEY’RE CRAZY!). So the family who has to care for them the remaining 167 hours per week they are NOT with their therapist is working blind. Often not knowing the diagnosis or what cocktail of meds is inducing the increasingly strange behavior you are witnessing.
Typical Congress. Don’t know jack about anything. Pass laws like they are experts on everything.
Gunshot wound and Dropsy.
I’m out.
Some of the cases would be PTSD, especially those that mention “the War.” Some would be physical brain injuries. Some would be depression. Some symptoms of alcoholism. Etc.
Interesting that in Islam it is 'the interior or hidden meaning in the Quran'.
If the whiskey is bad why is that MY fault?
It was a cruel thing closing down asylums. I have no clue what people were thinking. I guess mentally ill have civil rights, including the right to go on shooting rampages.
Coincidentally, two-thirds of these are also the names of Scandinavian Death Metal bands.
“Vicious Vices” world tour.
As a teen working at Belmont Racetrack here in New York during the mid 70s, I once got licked in the butt by a super high-strung 2-year-old colt named Sky Messenger.
I can’t believe I actually was able to recall his name. I can’t even remember where I put my reading glasses most of the time!
LOL!
“Masturbation for 30 years”. Man, not even stopping to eat? That is a long time to choke it.
“Kicked in the head by a horse.”
NOW I know why leftists think the way they do.
Reason #175 = Lollygagging
What was the horse doing licking you in the butt?
Looks like John Kerry (who served in Viet Nam) would qualify based on the second one listed. Oh, wait. It says kicked in the head by a horse not looks like a horse. Never mind.
Imaginary Female Trouble?
We talkin’ Caitlin Jenner or Manti Te’O there?
