Ben, Im doing this article for you as I promised, and I hope it will help you (and others) to make those decisions in the critical moments and days following an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) event. Although I had plenty of science courses in college, I am not a scientist. Certainly someone with a scientific background will comment on this article. Let me state this: Scientists, I welcome all comments, positive or negative, but please make them proactive. These articles are forums where the writers are emcees that introduce topics for discussion and present some salient points. You guys and gals are the ones who pick up the topics and run the football in for the TD.
We need to be SMEs as we called them in the Army: Subject Matter Experts. One of my personal goals for SHTF is not just to draw a large readership base; it is to help readers develop themselves and also develop one another. Let the site become an ORP (objective rally point) where everyone can plan, exchange ideas, and attain better levels of awareness and preparation for the times to come. In this light, there is a lot of knowledge out there awaiting use. Take the knowledge you amass, step up to the plate, and take the swing: do the best you can with what you have. And if it isnt perfect, so what? You give it your best shot and then adjust fire from there.

I am sorry but the part about the warranty made me laugh. TEOTWAWKI but the watch shop is still open?
An EMP might just be an act of mercy by the Almighty.
If the ammo cans and gun safe don’t keep my electronics safe ill be screwed. My old tablet with all my games will be ruined and I won’t be able to survive.

When SHTF the antique value gets set a side.....the F250 is my go to vehicle.
Maybe it will be good in the long run for the survivors descendants, but not the survivors.
Not me. I don't need any convincing of how horrible an EMP event will be. I pray this is not our fate.
If it's gonna be nuclear, I hope it's on the ground nuclear. IMHO, gone in a flash is much better than slowly starving to death after an EMP.
A Good Automatic Movement Watch: You need to keep time and coordinate things with your family after the event. Youll have to really shop and find one with a good warranty.

You shouldn’t have laughed. A watch maker who is confident enough to offer a GOOD warrantee does so because he expects few (or no) claims to be filed against the warranted product. :6)
It certainly won't be without collateral damage, but try telling that to all the people ISIS is beheading, all the people being forced into some form of slavery by collectivists and other gangsters; to the million or so babies being ground into dogmeat every year, etc.
I pray it is.
EMP is like a chemtrail of nasty energy.
Read about Faraday cages and how to build them.An old microwave oven is an excellent Faraday cage.
What are the odds for EMP when on an elevator with a beautiful blonde?

Using the AM/FM radio test, it was found that both Mylar bags and microwave ovens were not good Faraday cages. Both of these failed inside my home. They simply did not work well at all.

She won’t be so beautiful after the first 24 hours
I am fairly sure my faithful Bulova's warranty ran out a long time ago.
(Before you ask, no, the truck pictured above is not my truck. But it's perfect, imo. I've been looking for something like it ever since reading this article. But I'm discovering a big problem is finding one at a reasonable price, which I have not been able to do. A bigger problem, perhaps, and one I haven't even tried to tackle yet, is running the idea by my better half for her approval!)

There are electronic parts in even these that may not survive an EMP.
The capacitor in your distributer. The starter relay. The voltage regulator and the alternator itself are all subject to the heating caused by the induced currents of an EMP.
Granted they are less susceptible than integrated circuits but are still susceptible.
