There are electronic parts in even these that may not survive an EMP.
The capacitor in your distributer. The starter relay. The voltage regulator and the alternator itself are all subject to the heating caused by the induced currents of an EMP.
Granted they are less susceptible than integrated circuits but are still susceptible.
I’ll take something with an older diesel with mechanical injection and a manual transmission, parked on a hill. No EMP could take that out of service. At most one might need to do something with the fuel shut-off solenoid.
I got a ‘73 pontiac in the garage for just that reason....plus it’s a road beast.
I hope you know that all inductive electronics will be burned through by an EMP. That means ignition coils on vehicles.
