There are electronic parts in even these that may not survive an EMP.

The capacitor in your distributer. The starter relay. The voltage regulator and the alternator itself are all subject to the heating caused by the induced currents of an EMP.

Granted they are less susceptible than integrated circuits but are still susceptible.

Not very useful when you run outta gas and find that all gas stations are shut down, because there will be no electricity to run their pumps.
