It appears that Star Trek Beyond may be the title of the upcoming Star Trek film, lucky number 13 in the franchise. As far as the storyline is concerned, the title suggests that the new film will venture farther out into the galaxy than we have seen in the previous two Abrams films, as co-writer Simon Pegg has been hinting at for some time now.

It’s her fault that 0bama paid off some judge to open her sealed divorce papers?
Or was it her fault her husband was a pervert who tried to get her to join a swinger’s club?
As an old fan I found the reboot solves all problems. You still have the original universe with the original characters doing their thing and you have modified original characters in a spin off universe that are not locked into the life and death of the old. Stories can be made fresh without one knowing what’s going to happen.
I can watch Wrath of Kahn and enjoy that and watch Into Darkness and get the the fanboy jolt of the familiar and the new story that the reboot allows
Win win
I don’t think you did. By that point in the movie the fact that this story is over the top space opera was pretty well established. Plus of course the secret had been leaked so it never really had the chance to land as fan service like they intended. And Kirk had been warned about what a Khan was.
I don’t think they should have gone with Khan. I understand why they did, certainly if I got tasked with writing a ST story in a rebooted timeline I’m using Khan because... well he’s Khan. But I think they did the movie a disservice by tying reboot Trek 2 so tightly with Trek 2.
“Ah yes, Jeri Ryan.
The woman who gave us Barack Obama.”
Very true and I always love to point that out. However, her husband was delusional thinking that shopping his famous wife around for swinging antics was going to remain some kind of secret. He was also delusional thinking that those records were going to remain sealed.
I think it’d be more appropriate to say that she was indirectly responsible for Barack Obama.
Yeah, I really respect the way they basically severed off the old time line so it’s still there for anybody stupid enough to want to wrestle with hundreds of hours of unplanned conflicting continuity. And it gives them the out, they didn’t do anything to that Trek, don’t complain about changes because they didn’t make any.
But the faithful will never forgive them for making the highest grossing Trek movie a reboot, no matter how gracefully they handled it.
If only Ditka had run no one would know who obama is.
I have dozed off in more than one Abrams movie (same with Michael Bay). These producers think that they can sustain attention by continual action and special effects. Its not that these effects or the scenes are technically bad. I think its just they overwhelm the senses for so long you just tune out and wait for the noise level to drop to something that will let you relax and actually relieve stress during the occasional character dialogue.
I didn’t mind them, even though they were ridiculous remakes of previous films. That being said, I saw a great quote on IMDB. Essentially that since they saved Kirk using Khan’s DNA, noone can die now unless the Federation is just a bunch of douches.
Me too. I never could understand “Trekkies”. I guess they have a right to do whatever they want and are mostly harmless but you do sometimes want to tell them to get a life.
The first time I saw “Star Wars”, I was astounded by the special effects but to me they got old after only a couple of movies. Now I don’t much care unless they take too long just to show them.
You would think that a civilization that has had galactic interstellar warfare for thousands of years would have figured out how to build an ultimate weapon deathstar that could not be destroyed by a single shot down an exhaust vent.
Well, to be fair, the thing was still under construction...
Not only that, since they now have a way to use a transporter to send someone to another planet across the galaxy, what is the point of star ships anymore?
Note that even in Sci-fi stories where travelling 100 light years in a a few days, they still don’t hop galaxies. We are islands unto ourselves.
Oh course, this one will have to finally have queers in space, just to continue the cultural assault by showing us how enlightened the future is— a communist utopia without natural law and everything.
To boldly go where lots of men have gone before.
Actually, this is BO's m.o. He did it to another opposing candidate from a prior election. Opening sealed divorce papers is just one of the things he will do to obtain power. And, I guess he has a list of friendly judges who will help him out when he needs it.
I understand Trekkies and Star Wars Fanboys. They're basically dweebs. Whovians are cool, of course.
