Beef is a luxury item in my household. I only buy beef when the supermarkets cut the price as the expiration date is approaching. Pork loin is around half the price of ground beef. The bacon boom has supported pork production.
If God didn’t want us to eat pork, why did He make pigs out of bacon and ham?
I love both. Heck I still have half a freezer full of venison and dip into that too. But pork is much cheaper right now.
Markets now load their shelves with OLD beef at ridiculous prices. And they wonder why beef consumption is way down...
The price of beef is outrageous. I personally I think it is due to several factors: demand from overseas, high fuel costs, EPA regulation, BLM practices, and weather. Turning corn to fuel isn’t helping either.
Bacon, its what’s for dinner..
I want lard to make a comeback. It’s not actually bad for you.
Purely driven by pricing. I can barely afford ground beef.
I can’t afford beef. I rarely buy it. I think I have bought beef maybe 5 times in the last year. Pork and chicken I can afford (usually).
Terrific !
My daughter has been serving roast pork for Christmas dinner for many years.
Delicious.
.
I think pork (and lamb) have been neglected, compared to beef, chicken and turkey, for a long time in the US.
Agreed. Lard is good for a lot of things, including dynamite piecrusts (and was trans-fat-free when trans-fat-free wasn’t cool!). I also save bacon grease for frying eggs and similar uses.
You don’t suppose that supply and demand are involved, eh?
Even London Broil is expensive.
I buy pork lion when it goes on sale for under $2.00/lb.
I buy the whole loin (about $14) and then have the butcher cut them into about 1 1/4” slices. Then I have him repackage them to three/package. It usually results in about 6-7 packages. Then they go into the freezer.
We have also been buying ground pork and mixing that with Marinara sauce or to make chili. It has more flavor than ground beef anyway.
Pork Loin not lion.
Hopefully this will drive the muzzies out of America.
Now there is a GREAT IDEA only SELL pork in America I am all for this peaceful solution I LOVE pork and this would NOT bother me in the least!!!!!!!!
